Spark & Light Nig Ltd. is a wholly indigenous company providing specialized engineering, environmental management care and protection, oil and gas services, construction and other interelated and integrated sectors of service provision in Nigeria. Job Title: AGRONOMIST Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating company’s business on farm by building outstanding customer relationships, providing a comprehensive advisory service, and maximising crop production for the farmer while increasing sales for the business.
  • Maintain current client base and continue to service them with good agronomic advice.
  • Responsible for research associated with a crop group and geographic zones within the Company’s agronomy programme
  • Assist with the development of the crop study programme
  • Balance the demands of experiment designs with site limitations and structure trials for commercial or scientific purposes;
  • Monitor trial performance and schedules;
  • Provide statistical analysis of results and produce written and verbal reports including trial abstracts and scientific data summaries;
  • To provide an integrated and comprehensive service on all aspects of Crop Production for our customers; including Crop Nutrition and Crop Protection advice, and guidance on current agricultural legislation.
  • Understanding ‘end markets’ for farm outputs and being able to support the customer with advice on the most appropriate management strategy to maximise the crop potential and achieve the volume and quality standards appropriate to these end markets.
  • Work with support departments to place and track orders, ensuring the customers get the services they have requested.
  • Assist the client in identifying, understanding and developing the most profitable and suitable long term production strategies.
  • Working with colleagues to identify new and develop existing customers and support a joint working approach across Frontier teams including support of cross departmental initiatives.
  • Deliver technical support to company Commercial team.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Minimum of Degree/Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or any other related Agricultural/Plant science
  • Must possess the ambition and resilience to develop new business and succeed in a commercial sales role
  • Knowledge of all current techniques, technology and products in the market place – Preferred.
  • A good working knowledge of livestock and arable farming with practical experience of both.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal and good negotiation skills.
  • High standard of verbal and numerical reasoning skill with good attention to detail
  • Good computer skills including intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A high level of personal initiative with strong planning and organisational skills
  • Previous experience of building relationships with or selling agricultural products to farmers and growers.Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience of working in agriculture and/or a good understanding of the sector
  • Experience of working in farm management or a similar field would be highly desirable
  • Demonstrable previous success in dealing with farmer effectively
  • Ability to build outstanding professional relationships with customers and colleagues
