Job Purpose

  • The SC Finance Production Manager will partner with the local SC, procurement, and category finance team to execute the Supply Chain Finance operational and Strategic plan for EWA which should enable the business to win and grow. 

Responsibilities
What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be:

  • Drive a cost competitive Supply Chain organisation through Sourcing Unit cost optimization
  • Drive delivery of controllable costs by reducing the Cost Per Ton (Net Productivity)
  • Deliver the business waste reduction programme for Ghana Production sites
  • Review, challenge and monitor all Capital Expenditure proposals (CEP) per the annual budget.
  • Drive Ops to deliver the R/ton expectations across Ghana Factory and the savings on Production Indirects.
  • Drive alignment of benchmark costs and efficiencies across Sourcing Units.

SteerBusiness Performance and provide Decision support:

  • Provide accurate and relevant business insights by analysing available info using designated best practice tools
  • Guide and support the delivery ofkey projects in the pipeline, whilst actively ensuring that all appropriate government incentives are maximised on.
  • Report on monthly variances giving key insight in what areas need focus and where factory performance was not great.
  • Ensure variance analysis on major stock losses as well as usage variances.
  • Drive and Coordinate the forecasting process to help the business make reliable decisions, includes budget, financial forecasts, etc
  • Drive optimal return on investments by driving focus on Capital Expenditure Proposals with Business Cases that meet the required benchmarks

Drive a cost competitive Supply Chain organisation through Sourcing Unit cost optimization:

  • Drive delivery of controllable costs by reducing the Cost Per Ton (Net Productivity)

Ensure robust governance and control systems are implemented, maintained and adhered to:

  • Ensure adequate controls and financial hygiene of all areas in Supply Chain, including managing reviews and interaction with auditors during +5 audits during a year.
  • Ensure Unilever Standard Chart of Accounts compliance
  • Ensure stock controls compliant with SOX
  • Ensure journals, write offs and provisions are done in accordance with Schedule of Authority.
  • Ensure integrity of balance sheet and income statement with appropriate levels of checks and balances.
  • Drive delivery of timely and accurate reporting requirements

Manage Production budgets and stock flows and balances:

  • Ensure annual budgets done and standard product costing aligned to global product costing guidelines for Unilever factories.
  • Ensure master data information is updated correctly for products sourced from 3P/ Collaborative Manufacturing sites
  • Drive stock days on hand down through analysis and reporting.
  • Manage stock in various locations on site and off site at third parties.
  • Provide financial business cases for different options of sourcing.
  • Ensure material usage variance analysis is happening and be able to report on variances for the month
  • Variance analysis of budget/forecast over and under spends done monthly.
  • Drive stock take process and variance analysis of waste.
  • Ensure SAP stock errors are understood and corrected.
  • Drive cost reductions in order to meet R/ton targets.

Landing Productivity:
A key success criterion for the role is to ensure that productivity is landed. This includes:

  • Recruitment: Recruiting and nurturing the team directly reporting to the role (if needed)
  • Communication: Communicating clearly with stakeholders what finance will and will not do as part of new operating model
  • Training & Handover:  For activities being transferred to business, ensure that the knowledge transfer is adequately done to the business partners.
  • Simplification: Identifying activities that represent complexity or excessive business partnering
  • Reporting: Reduce ad hoc reporting and support standardisation of reports. This will be very important deliverable for the SCF manager and will require liaison with other SCF leads within 1 UL markets to develop standard reports that serve most of the performance management and decision support needs.

Experiences & Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional qualification in accountancy – CA or CIMA (or other finance professional qualification) preferably or nearing completion of professional qualification.
  • Min 3-5 years Experience at Factory Supply Chain Finance
  • Min 3-5 years at Management and managing people
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Objectivity and integrity in the face of challenge; courage and personal resilience
  • Ability to build networks and manage multiple senior stakeholders
  • Understanding or ability to quickly grasp financial principles in the end-to-end Supply Chain, identify and drive relevant value-creating choices and decisions
  • Leadership of change – the ability to drive change management initiatives, staying close to best practices and relevant external developments
  • Ability to steer conversations and influence
  • Leadership skills – able to lead, motivate, inspire
  • Previous experience in SAP (3 years).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven track record of being effective in a complex operating environment and driving business performance
