Architect Duties & Responsibilities
The role and function of an Architect includes the following duties and responsibilities:
- Architects consult with other professionals about the design of an environment;
- Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client;
- Advising the client on the practicality of their project;
- Using IT in design and project management, specifically using computer-aided design software;
- Architects keep within financial budgets and deadlines;
- Discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project;
- Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is managed.
- Architects prepare applications for planning and building control departments;
- Negotiating with contractors and other professionals;project managing and helping to coordinate the work of contractors;
- Architects control a project from start to finish;
- Preparing tender documents for contracts;
- Architects specify the nature and quality of materials required;
- Producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications;
- Resolving problems and issues that arise during construction;
- Architects prepare tender applications and presentations;
- Regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget;
