The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African Countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions in its Nigeria National Office and the Lagos Department of its Headquarters Research Division.


Job Title: Senior Purchasing/Procurement Officer and Purchasing/Procurement Officer
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Lower Class Division) from a recognized University and must be Associate Members of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria with a minimum of three years post professional qualification .
Applicants for the post of Senior Purchasing/Procurement Officer must have a minimum of six years post professional qualification

Job Title: Computer Programmers
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B.Sc(Hons) degree, (at least Second Class Lower Division) in Computer Science or a related field from a recognized university.
Applicants should have functional knowledge of at least three of the following Languages:Visual Basic(Visual Basic.Net),Visual Foxpro,COBOL,CTT,Java. Applicant should also be familiar with the following operating system:MS-Dos,Windows 2008 server(&beyond),OS/400, open VMS.knowledge of the following applications will be an added advantage.
(i)Database Management-SQL Server 2005(& beyond)and Oracle.
(ii)Network Management-Network and Web design

Job Title: Accountants
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Lower Class Division) from a recognized University and must be Associate Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with a minimum of three years post professional qualification experience is required

Job Title: Senior Public Affairs Officer/Public Affairs Officer
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication (at least Second Lower Class Division) from a recognized University with at least three years experience in the Public Affairs Department of a reputable organization or in the editorial department of a reputable media outfit.
Possession of a higher degree and membership of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will be an added advantage.
Applicants who have not majored in Mass Communication but who possess graduate diplomas in Mass Communication are also eligible.
Applicants for the post of Senior Public Affairs Officer must have a minimum of six years post qualification experience.

Job Title: Internal Auditors
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Lower Class Division) from a recognized University and must be Associate Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with a minimum of three years post professional qualification experience is required

Job Title: Aptitude Test Development Officers
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B. Ed(Hons) (at least Second Lower Class Division) in either Chemistry, Physics or English Language and M. Ed in Measurement and Evaluation from a recognized University.
A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience is required

Job Title: Research Officer
Vacancy Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B. Ed(Hons) (at least Second Lower Class Division) in English Language and M. Ed in Measurement and Evaluation from a recognized University.
A PH.D will be added advantage
A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience is required


Applicants for all positions must:
• Be able to use personal computers, office software packages and must have knowledge of web-based systems
• Be a team player with good inter-personal skills, be open and able to lead change
• Possess influencing skills
• Be self motivated and able to write good reports, analyse and review research reports, be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision
• Be an organizer/planner with ability to be flexible and a finisher with ability to successfully implement ideas
• Possess analytical and communication skills

NB: Applicants for all positions must (in addition to their degrees and professional qualifications) possess five credits including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level or six credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level.
Applicants should not be more than 35 years of age as at the close of applications except those for the positions of Senior Purchasing/Procurement Officer, Senior Legal Officer and Senior Public Affairs Officer who should not be more than 40 years.

The salaries paid by the Council are very attractive. Point of entry into the salary scales will depend on qualifications and experience.
