Overall Job Purpose
- Welcome2Africa International has been growing steadily and is now seeking to dramatically accelerate growth.
- The CEO is looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic,
and process minded leader with the interest in scaling an Africa Focused
organization, leading an executive management team, and developing a
performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals.
- The COO will have bottom line responsibility for leading and
managing all operational and administrative aspects of the organization.
- You will be responsible for a comprehensive array of
administrative services and operations overseeing all activities
pertaining to communications, information technology, human resources,
recruiting and hiring, facilities management, legal affairs and other
foundation operations that are required to effectively and efficiently
support the organization’s programs, research and development.
- The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at
Welcome2Africa International deliver measurable, cost-effective results
that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful COO will
have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the
power that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is
essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase
the productivity of the organization, is it also critical that the team
retain the creative spark that drives Welcome2Africa’s goals and
mission.
- As COO you will also manage projects, as Project Manager, you
will be responsible for the creation, development, implementation,
staffing and management of a new initiative within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Founder/CEO, the COO will lead all internal operations
in addition to this, the COO Working in partnership with the
Founder/CEO, to create the strategic five-year plan and implement new
processes and approaches to achieve it.
Serve as the internal leader of the organization:
- Coordinate the annual operations plan and budget
- Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization
- Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence;
bridge national and regional operations and support an open-door policy
among all staff
- Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
- Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics
- Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
- Initiate and manage HR processes this includes:
- Recruitment
- Coaching
- Retaining
- Program Operational Leadership:
- Provide effective and inspiring leadership by being actively
involved in all programs and services, developing a broad and deep
knowledge of all programs.
- Identify opportunities for Welcome2Africa to leverage
cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to
address organizational challenges.
- External Relationship Development:
- Manage and cultivate existing relationships with funders to
secure and expand recurring revenue streams. Publicly represent
Welcome2Africa with the media and external constituency groups including
community, governmental, and private organizations and build excitement
for Welcome2Africa’s brand.
Strategic Plan Implementation:
- Provide programmatic leadership and input for all strategic plan
implementation processes with the Founder/CEO and staff. Coach program
directors as they implement the strategic plan and transition program
operations.
- Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the strategic plan implementation.
- Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
- Assist CEO in fundraising ventures
- Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
- Manage relationships with partners/vendors
- Assist CEO in fundraising ventures

- Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
- Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
- Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
- Financial Management and Oversight
- Working with the Director of Finance, manage and oversee all financial and business planning activities, including:
- Direct and administer all financial plans
- Oversee business policies and accounting practices
- Review and analyze financial reports
- Support and advise the CEO in decision making o Lead and support organizational budgeting process
- Oversee reporting and monitoring of organizational performance metrics.
- Provide overall financial oversight and monitoring.
- Ensure that relevant financial data is presented to the CEO and senior management team.
