Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Summary

  • The Unit Head, Turbine, is responsible for overseeing all mechanical preventive and corrective maintenance activities within the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Predictive, Preventive, and Corrective Maintenance of the 220MW Steam Turbines and Auxiliaries
  • Implement Continuous Improvement of Maintenance Activities to Ensure Asset Availability and Reliability
  • Ensure the Turbine Section Meets the Required Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, and Corrective Maintenance Targets
  • Responsible for Risk Assessment and Risk Management of the Turbine Asset Groups.
  • Compile Data and Reports Generated by Team Members and Generate Sections and Departments Reports
  • Supervision of Generation, Assignment, Scheduling, and Execution of Work Orders in the Asset Group.
  • Ensures Strict Adherence to QHSE Specifications in the Section.
  • Responsible for Resources (Spares, Tools, Men) Planning in the Turbine Section.
  • Ensure Effective Maintenance Management in the Enterprise Asset Management System (IBM Maximo).
  • Oversee Maintenance Activities of the Turbine Section and Resolve Challenges as it Arises.
  • Evaluates Maintenance Efforts and Impacts on Reliability and Availability of Assets.
  • Performance Evaluation of Team Members.
  • Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance on the Steam Turbines and Auxiliaries.
  • Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Supervision of Maintenance Activities.
  • Coordinates Maintenance Activities to Ensure Assets are Delivered Within Schedule, Scope, and Cost.
  • Coordinate Routine Review of SOPs, Work Instructions, and Preventive Maintenance Check Sheets.
  • Generate and Review Work Packages for Annual Inspections and Overhauls.
  • Perform Other Tasks That the Section Head and Head of Department may assign.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production Engineering or other Relevant Engineering Degrees
  • Membership in Relevant Professional Bodies (NATE, NSE, COREN, NiMechE) is Compulsory
  • Knowledge of Management Systems, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018
  • Knowledge of Project Management and Risk Management
  • Minimum of five (15) Years of Relevant Work Experience with a Minimum of Five (5) Years in a Supervisory Role

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience and working exposure to maintenance of turbine generators and auxiliaries.
  • In-depth understanding of Turbine Operations.
  • Adequate knowledge and application of turbine equipment.
  • Sound technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Sound knowledge of power generation processes.
  • Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Appreciable knowledge of safety and environmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedure with respect to maintenance of turbine generator and its auxiliaries.
  • Clear understanding of the statutory requirements of the equipment.
