APIN has built a strong partnership with the Nigerian Government, which is memorialized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Planning Commission. APIN is a leading Nigerian organization in the provision of prevention, care and treatment services to patients with HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis; Malaria; Reproductive Health; Family Planning; Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, and other non-communicable diseases of public health significance.

Position Summary
- We are looking for a qualified UI / UX front-end developer to work closely with our Health Informatics Team at PHIS3 to design and develop applications for organization needs.
- Responsibilities will include the translation of the UI / UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. Specifically, the developer should have a good understanding of human-computer interaction design (HCID) which will enable He/She to create a beautiful interface design, including wireframes, sitemaps, animations, graphics, visual prototypes, user experience flowcharts, and more.
- He/She must have Strong front-end development skills using HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and Knockout, or other MVVM Foundation and know how to build JavaScript/HTML based components and functionality that integrates with a back-end API.
- He/She is expected to be a tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and aspires to combine usability with visual design. And also ensure the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimize web pages for maximum efficiency, and maintain brand consistency across all web pages.
- The UI/UX Front End Developer reports directly to the Public Health Information Systems Advisor in activity implementation and management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Come up with UI and UX strategies based on organizations’ target goals.
- Develop, test, and implement high-end performance web UIs across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, including smartphones and tablets.
- Create and maintain digital assets, such as interface design files, wireframes, and interactive mockups using design and prototyping tools: e.g., Sketch and InVision.
- Design, build and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
- Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to the back end.
- Bridge the gap between graphic design and technical implementation.
- Translate UI/UX design wireframes to actual code.
- Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers with coding and troubleshooting to improve usability.
- Get feedback from and build solutions for users.
- Write functional requirement documents and guides.
- Create quality mockups and prototypes.
- Ensure high-quality graphic standards and brand consistency.
- Translate concepts into wireframes and mockups that lead to intuitive user experiences.
- Create and revise information architecture documents and diagrams including but not limited to content diagrams, content maps, wireframe diagrams, comprehensive diagrams, and static prototypes.
- Ensure all versions of project UX/UI documents are complete, current, and archived appropriately.
- Ensure web design is optimized for smartphones.
- Maintain brand consistency throughout the design.
Qualifications and Requirements
- B.Sc Degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
- Five years of professional experience as a UX / UI designer.
- Three (3 - 5) years experience as a front-end developer.
- Proven ability to produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, UI mock-ups, storyboards, and user scenarios.
- A strong portfolio that showcases your work and provides detail of your role on projects and shows examples of functional designs that you have developed from requirements through design delivery.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with graphic design applications such as Adobe Illustrator.
- Ability to learn quickly, Multitask, thrive in ambiguity and get things done fast.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving benchmarks.
- Self-motivated and work well under pressure.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is an added advantage.
- Expert knowledge of CSS, CSS extension languages such as Less, Sass, and CSS preprocessor tools.
- Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
- Proficiency in designing interfaces and building clickable prototypes using Sketch, InVision, Axure, etc.
- Experience working with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, CSS design and basic understanding of additional technical platforms and terms (e.g. XML, AJAX, Java, .NET, XAML/WPF, Flex etc.)
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools such as Gimp or Photoshop.
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Mercurial, SVN.
- Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
- Expert level with MAC and OS
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment.)
- Understanding of layout aesthetics.
- Excellent analytical and multitasking skills.
