Job Description
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
- EGPAF currently supports a suite of pediatric and adolescent-focused HIV programs in Nigeria, primarily through technical assistance modalities. In early 2022, EGPAF will be launching a new program to optimize early infant diagnosis in two states.
- EGPAF is seeking a qualified, highly resourceful and dynamic Technical Officer to accelerate progress toward the attainment of program goals in the country.
- The primary function of this role is to provide technical support in PMTCT and EID to EGPAF’s Nigeria program in Rivers and Taraba state.
- This position will be responsible for substantially driving the implementation of PMTCT and EID activities, and ensuring high-quality technical programming in these areas.
- The Technical Officer -PMTCT and EID will also provide support to the EGPAF Nigeria Program Manager to disseminate results and support new business generation.
Responsibilities
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
- This position will work very closely with facility-based health workers, State Ministries of Health, State Agencies for the control of AIDS, State Primary Health Care Development Board, Community based organizations, national and international partners and representatives from other normative agencies.
Requirements
To be successful, you will have:
- Using the EGPAF-developed EID toolkit, design and implement proven strategies to optimize the performance and reach of EID services in the two states.
- Support the acceleration of progress toward the attainment of EGPAF/Nigeria program goals in PMTCT and EID
- Support the introduction and rapid implementation of a donor-supported project, focused on optimizing EID in Rivers and Taraba states
- A Medical Degree (MBBS, MBChB) from a recognized institution; registered medical practitioner with a current practice license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), a Degree in Nursing, or other related fields with relevant national registration.
- Three (3) to four (4) years’ experience supporting HIV programs in Nigeria including technical expertise in PMTCT and EID programs especially at State level and collaboration with State actors.
- Work in tandem with the EGPAF Nigeria Program Manager and Technical Officer, Program Optimization to regularly and rigorously review program performance, and rapidly put into place strategies to address gaps, including supporting QI projects at site level
Skills
Bonus points if you have:
- Extensive and up to date understanding of the HIV epidemic and response in Nigeria, including up-to-date knowledge of guidelines and key metrics
- Knowledge of global and national HIV prevention and treatment guidance and standards.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience using MS Office packages including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook among others.
- Strong analytical skills with good problem-solving skills & creativity, supported by good writing and data interpretation skills
- Leadership / mentoring skills and good interpersonal skills.
