Teaching Assistant at Ikoyi Nursery School (INS)


Ikoyi Nursery School (INS) is one of the oldest nursery schools in Lagos having been established seventy-four years ago in 1946 by a small group of parents who had a strong belief in the importance of a solid early educational foundation, and a commitment to creating an environment in which every child was recognized for his or her own unique attributes, and was able to flourish.

Since its establishment, Ikoyi Nursery School has maintained its small size and currently has forty-two students divided into three classes, all between the ages of two and five years. The school’s success through the years is based on a strong governance structure and the unwavering commitment from all its stakeholders who include its board of Trustees, its parents, and its staff.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Plan weekly timetable with class teacher to ensure all 7 areas of learning are being covered
  • Discuss, plan, and execute (with class teacher ) on a weekly basis for the preparation of new classroom resource materials
  • Assist with photocopying, typing of progress reports, timetables, curriculum overviews as required
  • Keep up-to-date with EYFS teaching & learning using relevant apps and social media
  • Creatively planning in class display activities relevant to weekly themes.
  • Take photographs of children with school camera for use in observations folder
  • Ensure classroom is cleaned regularly and neatly arranged after school
  • Help assist with the coordination of extra-curricular activities for the school
  • Ensure communication book is updated at least once a week and given to head teacher for verification
  • Set up stimulating classroom environment in agreement with class teacher
  • Supervise the play area during playtime
  • Research new activities for class based around themes
  • Assist with the preparation of resources for class activities
  • Assist with the display of children’s work
  • Keep the Teacher informed of class needs
  • Keep written dated observations of children for use in progress reports and observations folder
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess an OND, NCE, or Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years experience.
