Sustainable Healthcare International (SHI) Foundation has been a partner
with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) for over five
years sharing in its vision for a malaria-free Nigeria and its goals to
reduce the malaria burden to pre-elimination levels and bringing
malaria-related mortality to zero. SHI is currently a Sub-Recipient to
the Global Fund Malaria New Funding Model
for core Programme
implementation and Social Mobilization activities in the High Burden
(HB) Northern States of Nigeria.
SHI is looking for qualified individual who will be part of our great team to fill the position below:
Job Title: State Programme Officer (SPO)
Location: Zamfara
Overview
- The SPO is responsible for direct implementation of day-to- day
Malaria activities at the State, LGA, health facilities and community
level.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of State-based activities on
malaria prevention including LLIN routine distribution through various
state identified channels.
- Provide support for malaria case management (diagnosis and
treatment) within the State; Provide technical support at the State
levels to improve intermittent preventive therapy for pregnant women;
- Provide support to partners as requested, including project
development and facilitation of workshops and supporting partners to
build linkages with other implementing partners and state governments.
- Build relationships with other stakeholders in the state which
will include other implementing partners, state governments and state
agencies for Malaria control
- Facilitate the development of Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the assigned state.
- Assist and Monitor the performance of Third Party Logistics
(3PL) operating in the state under the grant for effective delivery of
anti malaria commodities
- Support the M&E activities in respective State
- Provide technical expertise at the State level to the SMEP as it
relates to all issues on capacity building for the management of
malaria control;
- Participate in state level meetings with SMoH and technical
meetings with other malaria partners e.g. Technical Working Groups etc;
- Ensure that program activities are implemented according to the
work plans, approved deadlines, and within the budget limitations in
the assigned state.
- Ensures the proper execution of the state work plan and the submission of the various trip reports.
- Participate actively in the program wide monthly, bi-monthly and
quarterly program review, coordinate the analysis of the quarterly
M&E state reports and follow up with appropriate actions.
- Review actual financial performance against the budget, and explain variances on a regular basis.
General Requirements
- Candidates must have a Medical Degree or Bachelor's Degree in
Health Sciences or other related discipline and a post graduate
qualification in Public health or other related discipline.
- S/he must have a minimum of three years' work experience in
Public Health; particularly in Malaria programs or any other programs in
the other disease areas.
- Five (5) years minimum experience is required for candidates without a post graduate degree

- Good communication, both written and oral

- Ability to work well within a group and, also, unsupervised as required
- Local knowledge, language and residency in the state is mandatory
- Skilled at handling multiple, complex tasks with the ability to prioritize.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proven presentation skills and ability to write detailed and coherent reports.
- Ability to utilize office application programs such as Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, program software e.g DHIS and
statistical packages like SPSS, epilnfo, etc
- Excellent written and oral communications in English.
- Demonstrated success in capacity-building anLl training of diverse groups.
- Proven ability to maintain schedules for deliverables and track budgets.
- Ability to coordinate with partners from all levels of government and the private sector.
- Ability to guide and motivate staff in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across technical
disciplines and to function efficiently and effectively in team and
cross-cultural environments.
