Supervisor, Medical Data Entry at Médecins Sans Frontières

Job Title: Supervisor, Medical Data Entry

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure completion of all activities related to medical data entry and data management into the mission database. Supervise, organize and plan the activity of Data Entry officers/operators, as well as identify their training needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.
- Supervise, organize and plan the activity of Data Entry officers to have a reliable record of medical activity performed, as well as identify their training/technical support needs in order to provide good service support and reliability of the data collected.
- Ensure collation and entry of all data identified by project managers for collection (e.g. morbidity, mortality, surveillance of diseases of epidemics, nutrition, psychological and women’s health, etc) into the appropriate data management system while ensuring quality of data.
- Do quality control data officers’ performance on a regular basis?
- Know and ensure proper use of software used for recording (i.e. Fuchia, Epi Info, etc.).
- Ensure the accuracy of the medical data entered into the mission’s database on a regular basis, according to MSF protocols and carry out regular back-ups.
- Provide technical support to data entry officers/operators in project sites and give respond to their training needs.
- Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as inform the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data
MSF Section / Context-Specific Accountabilities
- Collecting data to support epidemiological activities in outbreak investigation (data on time, place, people with emphasis on mapping when it is needed) with support from Mission Epi.
- Drive the implementation and maintenance of new/existing data collection tools and processes (e.g., reviewing patient/data flow, reconciling data collection, encoding and entry for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating activities) with support from Mission Epi.
- Timely identification of needs within the data team (associated with HR, learning and development, technical support etc.) to ensure high-quality data/data system management, ensuring that issues are promptly reported to Project Medical Referent/Activity Manager to address needs.
- Preparing and adapting routine documentation (survey forms, training materials, letters of request/notification, locally appropriate consent forms etc.) with support either of Epi Mission.
- Managing data systems and ensuring accurate, high quality databases; analyzing results and preparing regular written reports on progress and findings for Project Medical Referent and when appropriate to external collaborators/networks (MoH, other NGOs, etc.)
- Providing training sessions to medical teams on relevant aspects of data collection, management and epidemiology to enhance team response capacity.
- In line with LGAs/sMOH, monitor and report to PMR news of the outbreak
- Give technical support to medical doctors and nurses to indicate needed information in the patients files
- Conduct and support in analyses of project data for the purpose of routine reporting and ad-hoc requests as needed.
- Support organizing and archiving patients' file in the archive room
- On a weekly basis or as needed, ensure that all project databases are diligently checked for any errors and eliminate bad data (redundant, incomplete, and incorrect data).
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:
- Essential proven computer literacy, secondary education or qualifications either in administration, data entry or in statistics.
- A Degree in Information and Technology (IT) desirable.
Experience:
- Essential working experience of at least one year with MSF.
