Job Title: Stock Reconciliation Officer
Location: Lagos
Job Objective
- The primary objective of this role is to establish and maintain the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of stock-related transactions and records, ultimately supporting the financial integrity and reputation of the firm.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of stock transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock records and transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of stock transactions, holdings, and settlements.
- Keep track of stock movements and adjustments.
- Facilitate the clearing and settlement of stock trades in coordination with relevant parties.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of trade settlements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to stock reconciliation and settlement.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations affecting stock transactions.
- Work closely with external entities, such as clearinghouses and depositories.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in stock reconciliation procedures.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and impart knowledge to team members.
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information related to stock transactions and client holdings.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to stock reconciliation processes.
- Provide necessary documentation and information during audit processes.
- Proactively address and resolve issues related to stock reconciliation to minimize disruptions.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, external parties, and regulatory bodies regarding stock reconciliation issues.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve discrepancies and address operational challenges.
- Generate and analyze reports related to stock reconciliation for management and regulatory purposes.
- Provide regular updates on reconciliation status and identify trends or issues.
- Identify and assess risks associated with stock transactions and reconciliation processes.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Utilize stock trading and reconciliation platforms and software effectively.
- Stay updated on advancements in technology that could enhance reconciliation processes.
- Address client inquiries and concerns related to stock transactions and settlements.
- Provide support to clients in understanding the status of their stock holdings.
- Collaborate with other departments such as operations and compliance to ensure smooth stock reconciliation processes.
Requirements
- B.Sc in any relevant field from a reputable university (ICMR certification is an added advantage).
- Previous experience in the Capital Market
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 products (strong Excel experience is essential)
- At least 2-3 years of experience in stock reconciliation, managing and analyzing high volumes of data to recognize, understand and assist in solving problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.
