Job Description
• Contribution to Group Effective Tax Rate (ETR) for region or function
• Delivery of global initiatives within Tax region or function
• Quality of Internal audit reports and Risk Management reviews for region or function
• Effective project management and development of resource
• Quality of relationship with tax authorities and outcome of tax audits and negotiations in region or function
• Level of follow up on team ILDPs and follow up on Q12 Impact planning
• Efficiency of and accuracy of tax reporting in financial statements – audit reviews, budgets & reports
• Accuracy of forecast ETR for region or function



Vacancy Roles & Responsibilities
Delivery of Tax Savings
Including:
•Managing effective tax rates through the initiation and implementation of tax planning strategies including lobbying Tax authorities.
•Minimisation of VAT, WHT, PAYE and other above the line taxes.
Management of Tax Risk
Including ensuring that:
•Provisioning of tax is appropriate
•Risk assurance processes are in place to manage Tax Risk in compliance with Group Policy.
•Work with other members of Group Tax to minimize transfer pricing exposure to UK and Africa tax by ensuring transactions between Group companies are on as arms length basis and evidenced by consistent documentation.
•Global Tax Policies and Procedures and country Addenda are properly implemented.
•Ensure the smooth implementation of Group’s accounting system
Transfer Pricing
•Ensure an efficient cost booking policy for Africa meets both local and Group requirements.
•Support Africa Tax Manager to maximize TP planning opportunities by working alongside Business Managers to ensure good working knowledge of business and accounting issues.
•Responding to adhoc queries request for tax advice
•Providing tax efficient solutions to business projects.
•Identify transfer pricing planning opportunities for tax efficient cost and revenue and revenue booking.
Provision of Tax Advice to African Businesses
In conjunction with Heads of Finance and Africa Tax Manager:
•Update and implement tax strategies to facilitate lowering of effective tax rates.

Assisting with Special Project
E.g.:
•Corporate structuring
•Advice on capital raising

Job Vacancy Qualifications & Skills
• Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent)
• Minimum 6-8 years post-qualification experience at a major firm of chartered accountants and / or an international group, preferably with a banking or financial sector bias.
• Knowledge of Nigeria or Ghana tax law and practice. Knowledge of other African countries and / or UK tax law would be an advantage.
• Project management and implementation skills.
• Good research and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Willingness to travel as required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a ready appreciation of business issues.
• Ability to build and maintain good working relationship.
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated, capable of working without close supervision.


In compliance with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act of 2004, all applicants should ensure that they have completed the mandatory NYSC programme. A discharge certificate will be required as evidence of completion of the programme. Where an exemption has been granted, a certificate of exemption will also be required.
