Job Title: Associate Professor

Location: Abuja
The Role
- Associate Professor of Architecture will report to the Head of Department of Architecture. He/she will teach courses in architecture and architectural design, such as architectural environmental design, interior architecture/design, and landscape architecture and perform the below tasks.
- Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as architectural design methods, aesthetics and design, and structures and materials.
- Evaluate and grade students’ work, including work performed in design studios.
- To teach graduate studio and lecture courses within the professional architecture design program
- contribute intellectually to the formation of this new professional program by developing curriculum; developing research and/or creative scholarship program that includes refereed publications, scholarly presentations and grantsmanship appropriate to an assistant academic level; seeking external funding; participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development; and actively engaging in professional organizations.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
- A Ph.D. in Architecture
- Minimum of 10 years teaching and research experience with at least 14 publications in national and international journals.
- Regular and consistent incorporation of innovation into teaching including development and implementation of new programmes especially involving innovative methodologies.
- Candidates must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic leadership with evidence of collaborative research work with academics within the university and elsewhere.
- Administrative skills, as well as the ability to develop and lead activities and staff at the university with documented ability to organize research within the subject area for the position, recruit competent lecturers with capacity to impact and teach at strategic levels within the Department.
- Applicants must be a computer Literate with advanced skills in Microsoft Office programmes, Corel Draw etc.
- Must have membership/registration with relevant professional bodies such as NIA and ARCON

- Ability to review programme design on a regular basis to ensure compliance with quality standards and academic regulations and to make alterations where appropriate.

Job Title: Professor

The Role
- The Department of Architecture seeks to appoint an exceptional lecturer with teaching and research interests in architecture. Specifically, the Professor will:
- Ensure that course design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the university and department.
- Lead research and/or innovation proposals and projects with the potential to generate income, to manage project deliverables, deliver outputs and secure impact.
- Work with university stakeholders to identify sources of research funding and lead the process of securing funds.
- Manage the delivery of individual and/or collaborative research projects to time and on budget.
- Apply knowledge acquired from research and innovation as well as scholarship to learning and teaching, and appropriate external activities.
- Lead the production and dissemination of research outputs.
- Lead the design and production of peer-reviewed publications and/or practitioner outputs, and/or disseminate research findings using other appropriate media.
- Make presentations at local, national, and international academic and/or practitioner conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events.
- Supervise research degree students to ensure timely completion and/or undertake the duties of Director of Studies for research degree students to manage timely completion.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes

- Minimum of 15 years teaching and research experience with publications in national and international journals. e
- Regular and consistent incorporation of innovation into teaching including development and implementation of new programmes especially involving innovative methodologies.
- Evidence of contribution to professional development programmes, designed to improve teaching/learning, develop skills, raise awareness of pedagogic issues etc. or a track record of successful support given to others seeking to develop their teaching or the learning experience of their students.
- Candidates must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic leadership with evidence of collaborative research work with academics within the university and elsewhere.
- Administrative skills, as well as the ability to develop and lead activities and staff at the university.
- Applicants must be computer Literate with advanced skills in ARCHICAD and other BIM software etc.
- Must have membership/registration with relevant professional bodies such as NIA and ARCON
- Ability to contribute to the achievement of the School Development Plan and the institutions strategic planning processes.

Job Title: Senior Lecturer
Job Ref.: NUN-FENGA-003
Location: Abuja
The Role
- Reporting to the Head of Department of Architecture, Candidate should have a strong interest in teaching upper year level design studios, and an interest in one or a combination of Contemporary Practice and Urbanism and Digital Media & Digital Workflows.
Other Specific duties include:
- Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.
- Design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of study (sometimes for entirely new courses) at various levels.
- Advancing a rigorous research, creative activity and / or community engagement agenda, including collaborating across disciplines on research and outreach initiatives
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate architecture courses including special topics seminars, lecture courses and design studios
- Design and maintain virtual learning content and environments.
- Review on a regular basis course content and materials, updating when required.
- Develop and apply appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
- Candidates must hold a PhD in Architecture or in a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years teaching and research experience with at least 10 publications in national and international journals.
- Regular and consistent incorporation of innovation into teaching including development and implementation of new programmes especially involving innovative methodologies.
- Emerging record of research productivity or evidence of contributing to a successful design practice.
- Candidates must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic leadership with evidence of collaborative research work with academics within the university and elsewhere.
- Record of peer-reviewed research, patents, competition awards, design awards or other publicly acknowledged design or community engagement work.
- Demonstrated ability to teach design studio and related courses in a professional degree program, evidence of outstanding design skills, evidence of research / creative scholarship or the ability to develop and maintain an active research / creative scholarly program, and candidates holding a professional license in Architecture.
- Must have membership / registration with relevant professional bodies such as NIA and ARCON
