About the Project

  • The project is to support the building of a knowledge base of community-based actors in the agriculture value chain and strategically defining and implementing an expansion plan that increases the volume of goods traded on the donor’s platform as well as creates work opportunities for at least 50,000 youth
  • Project actors are farmers, aggregators, transporters, and youth engaged in the agriculture sector across 6 states and 50 LGAs in Nigeria. The database of market actors will include at least 30,000 farmers, 2,500 agribusinesses, and 20,000 youth across 6 implementation states
  • The project is, therefore, seeking for 300 motivated enumerators (90 in Kebbi, 60 in Kaduna and Niger and 30 in Kano, Jigawa, and Taraba).

Primary Purpose

  • The Enumerator (s) will be expected to participate in data collection from a minimum of 30,000 farmers and 2,500 agribusinesses from the 6 focal states broken down to at least 600 farmers and 416 agro businesses per state
  • To achieve this, each enumerator will survey an average of 8 farmers and 3 agribusinesses per day
  • The successful candidate(s) will work under the supervision and guidance of state field data verifiers and be oversighted by the TNS MIS Coordinator.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Study the data collection tools and study protocol
  • Participate in sourcing farmers and agribusinesses within the various LGA
  • Collect data and measure information on variables of interest in line with the data collection tool
  • Comply with TechnoServe policies and practice with respect to code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedure
  • Strict adherence to time frame of assignments
  • Effectively manage all project resources
  • Participate in daily briefing on key achievements, challenges and solutions
  • Provide timely responses on data query for clarification and be willing to redo if required.
  • Provide reliable, accurate, valid and relevant data relating to the subject matter (data is free of bias and not subjective).
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in data collection
  • Experience doing similar surveys
  • Experience with relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in working with an INGO is an added advantage
  • Experience working in rural communities in Northern Nigeria
  • Be based in one of the 6 states and be willing to work in one of the LGA.
  • Experience in using digital data collection tools and tablets
  • Experience in working with community members of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication & influencing skills (Fluency in Hausa and English languages)
