Program Manager at Wonder Woman Nigeria


Wonder Woman Nigeria was established in 2018 with the aim to empower women and advocate for gender equality, menstrual hygiene, justice for rape and molestation victims, environmental / climate protection and a general approach to a holistic humane culture that transcends tribe, race, sexual orientation and other divisive lines in our societies. Wonder Woman Nigeria is an incubation initiative for women, youths, and vulnerable children, to be equipped with life skills for self and community sustainability. The NGO has birthed many initiatives from its headquarters in Northern Nigeria, Kaduna State, including Random Acts of Kindness Week, Plastics for Pads Project, School and Street outreaches centred around menstrual hygiene / SRHR, an enhanced reading culture, social justice for rape victims amongst many others.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Program Manager

Location: Any City, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The Program Manager will majorly work with Plastics for Pads Project team.
  • The project seeks to address the issue of improper disposal of plastics and plastics pollution in our communities and help to end period poverty for women and girls in underserved communities.
  • The Program Manager supports program delivery across several technical areas, including Menstruation Health; Period stigma and shame; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); and environment.
  • This position will report to the Founder and Vice President (Director).

Specific Responsibilities
The specific tasks for the Program Manager will be as follows:

Project Delivery:

  • Responsible for overall project management for project from award through closeout, including contractual compliance, financial management, and oversight of project personnel and subcontractors.
  • Serve as primary problem solver across project. Elevates issues as needed and ensures to responds to field team requests in a timely manner.
  • Regularly traveling to the field to support project processes and backfill project leadership, as necessary.
  • Monitor consultant and subcontractor performance; ensure agreements and deliverables are achieved and performance timelines are met.
  • Updates management on program implementation progress; as-needed problem solving; and delivering presentations on the project to a variety of actors.
  • Stays up to date on program implementation and serves as a resource for other home office colleagues regarding projects within their portfolio.
  • In conjunction with the contract’s representative, takes accountability for project processes including contractual quality assurance and compliance; interfaces with finance and contracts to ensure financial management and contract compliance.
  • Monitor project budgets, manage monthly budget projections (including ensuring the accuracy of field office projections), review budget modifications prior to submission to client, and ensure budgets are correct. Works with Director to communicate changes.
  • Manage team dynamics and workload; communicate with senior management regarding resource needs.

Technical Excellence:

  • Contributes to the development of project work plans and helps to ensure that technical work plans are executed. Encouraged to use knowledge of development issues and culture to adapt work plans to changing circumstances and seeks alternative ways of achieving project implementation goals.
  • Oversee formatting and submission of all project deliverables to M&E officer
  • Serves as acting director, as needed.

Leadership and Staff Management:

  • Train, coach and supervise adhoc staff on performance improvement across the full spectrum of their roles
  • Provide appropriate team direction to ensure project quality standards are met.
  • Create a collaborative environment that empowers all project adhoc staff to effectively execute their roles.
  • Set an example as a leader by holding yourself accountable, communicating professionally, being a team player, and supporting the development of project and project staff.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration / Social Sciences or other related subjects
  • Relevant Project Management certifications and training
  • At least 5 years experience in the development, review, reporting and documentation of program interventions and results.
  • Good influencing and persuasion skills and ability to remain compliant with organisational and donor policies
  • Ability to manage and prioritize high workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proactive and takes initiative as required
  • Experience working on Menstruation Health; Period stigma and shame; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); and environment projects.
  • Experience in development, and maintenance of strategic partnership for achievement and sustainability of project results.
  • Experience in project and financial management with a proven track record of timely submission of high-quality project deliverables
  • Strategic thinking
