Program Manager at African Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP)


The African Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), Bayero University Kano is a World Bank supported Center, that aims to strengthen interdisciplinary approaches to promote population health outcomes through training and research for evidence-informed policy development in West Africa.

This Approach utilizes non-traditional partnership among different sectors of the community, public health, industry, academia, health care and local government entities to achieve plosive health outcomes. Specifically, the centra is designed to implement high quality training and applied research for health concerns of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3): maternal health, child health, and infectious diseases(malaria, TB and HIV) with particular emphasis on increasing human resources for health and Turning Research into Practice (TRIP)’ for evidence-proven interventions.

The program is being implemented by the Bayero Universty Kano in collaboration with regional and International academic institutions, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Benin, the University Of Maradi, Niamey, the Bayero Medical College USA, Vanderbilt University, USA, University of Nebraska, University of Cambridge, UK. University of Sheffield, UK, University of Birmingham, UK e.t.c  As well as international partners such as World Health Organization, Ferrring International e.t.c.

Job Title: Program Manager

Location: Kano

Job Description

  • The Centre requires the services of a strong Program Manager for immediate appointment that will be expected to bring considerable vibrancy and strategic managerial direction to the organization

Duties of the Officer

  • The Program manager will manage the day-to-day activities of the Centre under the guidance of the Centre Leader and Co-Centre Leader.
  • In innovating the Centre, the ability to think creatively and strategically with high level project skills is needed.
  • The program manager will ensure proper documentation, branding, resource mobilization, and drive the development of a high-level niche for the Centre both within and outside the University, especially with supervisory agencies, project partners and funders.

Qualification for the Post

  • Degree, have management experience and demonstrated prior success in implementing or managing a large scale project. 
  • An ideal candidate for Project Manager of ACEPHAP would have some health and university familiarity, but would not be an existing University staff
  • Have obtained a minimum of Master's
  • Experience in using the web and/or social media and skills in advanced computing will be necessary
  • The candidate must also possess are record of good health.

Remuneration

  • This is negotiable and shall be on a renewable contract basis. 
  • Salary and emoluments are similar to those on contract at the directorate level in the Nigerian University System.
