We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 

Job Title: Production Supervisor

Location: Nigeria
Department / Section: Production / Mill

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations related to the processing of oil palm fruit into crude palm oil (CPO) and other by-products.
  • This role requires extensive knowledge of oil palm milling processes, equipment, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight and Standards Compliance:

  • Assume responsibility for palm oil production process by supervising and leading a team of mill operators and workers for smooth and efficient mill operations.
  • Monitor and control production parameters for processing of oil palm fruit into crude palm oil (CPO) and other by-products.

Standards Compliance:

  • Uphold strict standards and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols and environmental regulations
  • Liaise with laboratory for quality assurance and efficiency of production process, including for root cause assessments.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions and maintenance requirements and issue job cards for maintenance department.
  • Follow-up on preventive maintenance, servicing, breakdowns and repairs with maintenance team.

Production Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate production records, including CPO yields, downtime, and quality metrics.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance and inventory levels to mill management.

Leadership and Teamwork:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and skill development and provide training and mentorship to mill operators and workers.
  • Ensure hand-over in shift work and maintain clear communication with mill management team.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Any other responsibility that may be assigned from time to time by Technical Officer/ Production Manager

Job Specification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Production / Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering / Technology and any relevant Engineering field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Qualification:

  • Several years of hands-on experience in oil palm milling operations, with a proven track record of supervisory roles.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance in the palm oil industry.
  • Proficiency in using mill management software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of large-scale oil palm milling processes, equipment, and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Basic Skill:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, varying temperatures and challenging weather conditions
