Opportunity at Cuso International for Environmental Assessment Consultants


Cuso International is seeking the services of an experienced consultant with skills and knowledge in environmental assessment to provide technical support that will ensure environment is mainstreamed in the YouLead project in order to achieve the expected environmental responsibility results.


Purpose & Consultancy Objectives
The purpose of the consultancy: is to conduct an EA with key partners and selected beneficiaries in accordance with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA), Global Affairs Canada’s (GAC) Policy for Environmental Sustainability, and the Environmental Integration Process (EIP), which will identify potential positive and negative environmental effects of the project. This will include environmental assessments of: (1) project office and offices of key partners, (2) training venues used during project implementation, (3) resource centers in LGAs, (4) curriculum and training materials being used for training under the project, (5) businesses being supported in selected value chains, and (6) policy level interventions.

The overall objective of EA consultancy: is to provide a comprehensive environmental analysis of the YouLead Project that ensures environmental factors are considered, clarifies the decision-making process, ensures possible adverse environmental impacts are identified and avoided or minimized, and identifies opportunities for environment enhancement for all project activities.
  1. Qualification and experience
The evaluation will be carried out by a senior consultant representing a firm or academics or it could be an individual consultant with relevant degrees in environmental sciences, Agriculture, social sciences, statistics and other relevant areas.
The consultant is expected to be:
A reliable and effective evaluation manager with extensive experience in conducting environmental research and assessments and a proven record delivering professional results
  • Fully acquainted with Global environmental standards and practices
  • A proficient practitioner of environmental policies and best practices in agriculture and natural resources management sectors
  • Experience in environmental curriculum development and design would be an added advantage
Total Duration of this consultancy is 20 days, starting on the 18th of July, 2016 and to be concluded August 12th, 2016.
