Job Title: PROJECT LEADER

LOCATION : BONNY  
The Job:
The appointee will be required to initiate, plan and execute approved portfolio of projects to agreed standards (Cost, Schedule, Quality), ready to operate as defined in each project’s Final Investment Decision while meeting NLNG’s Goal Zero HSE Objectives. Scope includes all activities to initiate the projects, progress through the various Decision Gates, obtain FID, execute, commission and close out the projects.

The Duties: The duties will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Adopt and apply standard project management tools and techniques, including supporting resources, to accurately scope, plan, cost, execute and control projects to meet approved objectives as in the FID. Contribute to the evolution of standardized work processes, tools, best practices, repeatable solutions and synergies between all projects in the portfolio and across the Projects Delivery group.
  • Participate in the process of identifying, screening, planning, prioritization and approval of the plant’s investment program, including capital allocation and all related governance accountabilities.

Job Title: PRINCIPAL PROJECT ENGINEER

The Job:
The appointee will be required to define and develop projects that will assure the long term technical and operational integrity of NLNG’s Production Asset and support extension of useful production life beyond the current Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) by at least another 30 years at minimum cost within approved HSES and asset integrity standards. The main objective is to deliver the relevant components of Plant Rejuvenation Program and NLNG Production Division Capex projects to an approved DG3.

Job Title:  SENIOR PROJECT PLANNER

The Job:
The appointee will be required to deliver and maintain standard, consistent and realistic project plans reflecting the assessed risk parameters for NLNG Production Division Capex Projects to ensure effective project delivery within budget and schedule.

The Duties: The duties will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide project management support in the development of the portfolio project activities, logic, resources and progress of the integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the overall Project portfolio baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain the overall Project Portfolio Plan at levels 1 to 4 required to develop and execute each approved project in their hierarchy relationship and update the planning and progress measurement and monitoring procedures so each element of the project performs the processes consistently.
  • Schedule control activities to monitor physical progress against key deliverables and track trends on schedule over-run and under-run and use such trend information to identify timely corrective actions to maintain schedule; prepare risk and sensitivity analysis on project schedule or critical path analysis for evaluation of impact on overall Project portfolio plan.
  • Provide monthly progress updates, forecast completions, together with the critical path and trend analysis to ensure timely and accurate information are available to the delivery groups.
  • Assess the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and What if scenarios to aid project management decision-making.
  • Evaluate bid schedules and review contractor execution plan and develop the key milestone dates for critical projects for alignment with the overall integrated Project portfolio plan. Verify that the contractors reported progress is correct and accurately reflected in the overall Project portfolio integrated plan.
  • Evaluate scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project. Prepare reconciliations between earlier schedules and the current schedule and provide schedule impact assessments to change control process
  •  Establish probabilistic techniques to determine and continuously communicate the possible range of schedule completion dates for the project with the inclusion of tracking schedule risk mitigation efforts, the criticality of the main paths to completion, float consumption and the release of the 50/50 schedule contingency to ensure timely completion of Projects

Job Title:  PROJECT COST ENGINEER

The Job:
The appointee will be required to provide Company with total cost management services including preparation of cost work breakdown structure, cost estimating, post projects contract cost management and cost control support to aid management make informed decisions at various value assurance gates, minimize successful contractual claims, achieve value for money, contribute to company’s good corporate image, meet projects objectives and ultimately contribute to achievement of Cost Leadership in the management of projects and budget.

The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Evaluate different design proposals and establish optimum cost and challenge contractors bids as may be necessary and provide details of cost, quantities, and work hours for cost benchmarking to achieve value for money and Cost Leadership for the Projects.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date cost database for the preparation of accurate cost estimates for budget planning, project screening and investment decisions to achieve value for money and Cost Leadership for the Projects.
  • Develop and agree valuation schedules and implement valuation of project work done, prepare variation accounts and timely/quality payment certificates and final accounts for all Projects to achieve effective project contract cost management and budget performance.
  • Produce timely and quality cost estimates/Bills of Quantities/MTOs for budget planning, project screening and investment decisions in line with Departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve value for money and Cost Leadership for the Projects.
  • Develop Enquiry Schedules of Rates, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Time Resources, Bills of Quantities and Materials Take –Off (MTO) for to achieve a standard, uniform and consistent bid document to Company’s Contract & Procurement Department (CPM) to facilitate effective and common basis for job pricing by vendors, ensure efficient, transparent and auditable bid analysis and support effective post contract management of projects.
  • Develop tender analysis models for schedule of rates contracts to aid management’s decision to award call-off contracts and ultimately achieve value for money. 
  • Contribute to projects change management process by analyzing trends and potential change impact on project cost, assessing, negotiating and agreeing valuation of variations (change orders)  with contractors and advise project leaders in respect of raising financial commitments and obtaining authorities for variations to achieve proper project cost control and value for money.

  • Responsible for developing mechanical conceptual designs and preparation of Basic Engineering and Design Packages (BDEP) that will ensure safe operations when installed.

  • Manage all aspects of the electrical protection system and protection scheme database, run electrical load flow and short circuit studies necessary for the safe and reliable operation of the electrical power generation, transmission and distribution system.
  • Interpret Project documents related to complex protection schemes and develop procedures to implement protection changes whenever required in order to assure continued delivery of LNG production targets without systems failures arising from wrong protection settings.

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Transformer condition monitoring and reliability issues as the dedicated subject matter expert on transformers being a key component of the power system.
  • Manage the developmental needs of the electrical staff and lead in applying best in class industry standards in electrical protection management as the subject matter expert in order to improve competency and skill of the electrical team supporting LNG’s policy of providing the very best in class training and progression opportunities to own staff.

The Job:
The appointee will be required to provide engineering support for the maintenance and repair programmes for Company Production Division civil assets to sustain and improve the integrity of such assets and assure realization of Company Business Plan.

The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Drive the execution, on a daily basis, of all Statutory, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance activities for civil assets including structures and production equipment to ensure continuous LNG trains operation and loading of LNG, LPG, and Condensate
  • Carry out all necessary safety critical functions as identified, assigned and defined in the bowties to ensure that the effectiveness of the control barriers and recovery measures are maintained.
  • Supervise day to day civil maintenance work flow using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure adequate capture of the civil engineering activities for Audit purpose, performance Analysis, Procedures and Work Instructions improvements, and System continual improvements in line with ISO 9001:2008 and Company Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Recommend min/max level for civil maintenance consumables and spares and coordinate with Contracts, Procurement & Materials department to ensure timely availability of ordered items to prevent expensive emergency purchases and equipment out of service periods which adversely impact the overall Company Business Plan
  • Approve the priority setting of emerging civil engineering maintenance jobs to ensure that critical Operations are not adversely affected to ensure continuous liquefied gas production and loading to meet Company Business Plan

Job Title: SENIOR VENDOR ASSESSOR

The Job:
The appointee will be required to develop, coordinate and implement program for vendor evaluation, revalidation, relationship management and development for all suppliers of bought in materials, works and services (excluding feed gas) to maintain a supplier pool able to provide the inputs required by Company to fulfil its contractual (production & delivery), statutory, administrative and social obligations.

The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Analyse vendor categories and develop 3 year prequalification and revalidation plan (including expression of interest and adverts) based on material/works/services demand forecasts, planning and budgeting to support planned activities.
  • Establish technical evaluation requirements and participate in prequalification visits for high risk categories (suppliers/vendors) incorporating general and specific requirements applicable (- including regulatory, HSE, technical, Nigerian Content and financial requirements) to ensure competent vendors are enlisted in line with relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of vendor prequalification inspection reports for submission to the Vendor Evaluation Team (VET) and Vendor Approval Committee (VAC) to enable effective vendor approval process for business relations with NLNG.
  • Coordinate the quarterly VAC secretariat activities; convene governance meetings, generate and collate agenda items and submissions, prepare minutes and follow up actions to ensure adequate coverage and execution of all agreed items to support NLNG business continuity through a robust vendor base.
  • Liaise with the Legal and GRC departments in the coordination of due diligence checks on vendors to ensure that company policies on Conflict of Interest and Anti-bribery and Corruption are upheld before, during and after registration of vendors in NLNG.
  • Support the activities of the Corporate Vendor Services Centres (Bonny & Port Harcourt) to provide seamless interface with vendors on all enquiries pertaining to doing business with NLNG.  
  • Identify opportunities and recommend measures to develop vendors to ensure availability of robust pool of vendors in all product groups and categories and in particular develop Nigerian Content for effective support of driver functions and compliance with local content legislation.
  • Coordinate, review and investigation efforts of non-conformances and breaches to NLNG control frame work by vendors to ensure follow-up and close out of reported incidents.

Job Title:  PRINCIPAL PIPELINE ENGINEER- MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS

The Job:
The appointee will be required to provide engineering support for planning and executing pipeline operations and maintenance activities including but are not limited to pigging, cathodic protection and coating, corrosion inhibition, planning and execution of Right-of-Way (ROW) surveys, maintaining risk contours and registers for NLNG Gas Transmission Systems and ROW ensuring fit-for-purpose pipeline technologies and optimization of NLNG pipeline asset life cycle cost while meeting NLNG’s Goal Zero HSE Objectives.

The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead the execution and delivery of pipeline pigging operational activities, cathodic protection and coating operations and implement pipeline corrosion inhibition operations; manage and execute repair and re-commissioning of pipelines.
  • Plan and execute right-of-way (ROW) surveys, establish and maintain risk contours to determine minimum proximity distances to structures (based on pipeline location class definition) interfacing with local authorities and other stakeholders as per Pipeline Integrity Management System (PIMS) Communication Plan.
  • Develop, maintain and manage pipeline asset budget utilizing a system for projecting and recording asset cost based on a developed asset reference plan (including resource planning, life extension study requirements, life cycle cost, and contracting strategy for long term maintenance activities).
  • Act as a production or pipeline duty coordinator; determine course of action for damaged pipelines including leak reporting, and  participate as part of an Emergency Response Team during maintenance activities, or emergency repairs, or drills.
  • Assess and ensure technical integrity condition of pipeline using fitness for service integrity assessment principles on the basis of as-built data and operations/inspection/maintenance records.
  • Lead the development, implementation, updating, and administration of the Pipeline Integrity Management System, pipelines and gas transmissions systems database, specifications, inspection and maintenance reference plans, risk and integrity assessment processes and procedures as well as Pipeline remediation and repair of defects to ensure procedures are in place to optimize pipeline operations over the long term.
  • Determine requirements and prepare plan for refurbishment, abandonment, de-commissioning or removal of pipeline and gas transmission systems.
  • Determine impact of pipeline damage or (corrosion) defects and advise on acceptable operating pressures, temperatures and/or requirements for repair in accordance with fitness for service methodologies such as the Pipeline Defect Assessment Manual.
  • Responsible party for the technical integrity and reliability of optimal pipelines and gas transmission systems as well as for ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements.


The Person:
The right candidate should:
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Upper) in Petroleum, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical and Civil Engineering.
  • Possess a minimum of 12 years post-NYSC experience; out of which minimum of 8 years must have been spent in a pipeline construction, maintenance, engineering, operation or project position and minimum of 4 years in a senior pipeline engineer position in a reputable organization, preferably an Oil & Gas company.
