The Foundation was established under Nigerian law in January 2016 and is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. We are committed to improving the lives of those affected by the insurgency and preventing violence through building inclusive communities and providing and raising the standards of psychosocial care. We are recruiting to fill the positions below:   Job Title: Teacher Location: Borno Position Summary

  • We are looking for a committed Teacher to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school’s requirements.
  • It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their personalities and skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make learning an easy and meaningful process.
  • The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in education and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development.
Job Functions
  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
  • Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
  • Create and distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments etc.)
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
  • Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events
  • Observe and understand students’ behavior and psyche and report suspicions of neglect, abuse etc.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience
  • Proven experience as a teacher
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
  • Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
  • Well-organized and committed
  • Creative and energetic
  • Strong moral values and discipline
  • Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education
Language Skills:
  • English Language (Fluent) and Basic understanding of Hausa and/or Kanuri language
Profile of Behaviour:
  • Confident, attention to detail, independent judgment, self-starter, reliable, team-player, friendly, flexible, disciplined, adaptable, numerate.
Added Advantage:
  • Practical experience working with victims/ survivors of insurgency.
  • Academic or work experience in teaching

  • Perform basic counselling and/or educational activities to patients, families, communities, NGO staff, teachers, other counsellors in order to improve the mental health condition of the patient.  Discuss the treatment of problems with clients.
Job Functions
  •  Provides a basic range of psychological services to clients.
  • Consults with other professionals, regarding the evaluation and treatment of clients.
  • Provides psychological assessment, testing and evaluation, referral, consultation, programme planning, chemical dependency counselling/education, prevention service/activities, individual, couples, group and family therapy.
  • Interact with clients to provide assessment, testing, diagnosis treatment, case management, follow up and treatment planning, with physicians to provide consultation.
  • Collaborates and cooperates in a professional manner with co-workers, other departments and other agencies in order to assure effective continuity of care and services.
  • Prepares and maintains mental health notes and narrative reports of mental health activities (in the appropriate charting format).
  • Maintain clients’ records, as part of the Medical records system and follows policies of records and maintenance of client confidentiality.
  • Observes strict confidentiality and privacy of clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • University Degree in any field, Masters Degree in Psychiatry  is an added advantage.
Job Requirements:
  • Previous training or experience with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an added advantage.
  • Professional, expert knowledge of psychological theories, principles.
  • Able to participate in evaluation, diagnosis, individual, group and family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultation, prevention and research such as would be obtained in a doctoral programme in psychology and in a clinical internship practice.
  • Ability to communicate with children of all ages.
  • High degree of skill in the psychological assessment and evaluation of people.
Language Skills:
  • English Language (Fluent) and Basic understanding of Hausa language
Others:
  • Must have strong interest in clinical psychology; working with children, helping people rebuild  their lives and work towards the development of Borno State.
