We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Programme Officer Location: Maiduguri Job Description

  • The ECHO office in Abuja. Nigeria, requires a Programme Officer who will be based in Maiduguri with frequent travel to other cities of the northern Nigeria states.
Requirements The candidate must:
  • Have a relevant second level university Degree
  • Demonstrate 5 years relevant experience at national or international level in managing programme/project operations, including at least 2 years of experience with an NGO’s, donor or national/international organisatien. If no advanced degree, ten years’ work experience in the humanitarian sector will he required
  • Have Full computer literacy, covering all relevant office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc)..
  • Be fluent in English (oral and written) plus excellent knowledge of Hausa. Good knowledge of Kanuri is an asset.
  • Have a very good knowledge of the EU humanitarian aid system as well as Humanitarian Aid principles, policies and Standards
As a part of a small hut dynamic team, the Programme officer will carry out activities under the guidance from the ECHO/Technical Assistant such as:
  • Situation assessments
  • Analysis of ECHO partners’ proposals
  • Liaising closely with EU DG DEVCO officers and/or TA teams in the coordination of ECHO and DEVCO projects in the region, and support preparation and execution of joint meetings and related activities.
  • The position is open to all nationals of Nigeria and other residents holding a valid working permit or able to obtain such working permit before the foreseen recruitment date.
  • Monitoring, evaluation and coordination of pro cts
  • Reporting and programme administration
Job Title: Driver Location: Maiduguri Job Description
  • The ECHO office in Abuja, Nigeria, requires a driver who will be based in Maiduguri with fluequent travel to other cities of the northern Nigeria states.
Requirements The candidate must:
  • Have a secondary education certificate or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy
  • Be fluent in English (oral and written) plus excellent knowledge of Hausa. Good knowledge of Kanuri is an asset.
  • Demonstrate 5 years of relevant experience driving 4WDs with a safe driving record
  • Possess good communication skills and demonstrate ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
As a part of a small but dynamic team, the driver will carry out activities under the guidance from the Programme Officer such as:
  • Drive ECHO vehicles upon request according to ECHO vehicle guidelines.
  • Maintain all records related to the use of ECHO vehicles such as Vehicle Daily Log and Vehicle History Record, and regularly submit them to relevant administration staff.
  • Support general office administration.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle so thai the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times.
