Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Medico Legal Aid Foundation

Currently, MELAF operates as a sub-recipient of the Caritas Nigeria ACCESS Project, which focuses on delivering a comprehensive HIV program in Abia State, Nigeria. This partnership allows MELAF to contribute to a broader initiative addressing health challenges within the region and aligns with the foundation's commitment to promoting health and human rights.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Location: Umuahia, Abia

Job Summary
- The successful candidate will primarily ensure data availability in all provided platforms such that stakeholders are able to take data guided decisions particularly in reference to CBO efforts.
- The person will work with all service delivery focal persons to ensure that quality documentation in all provided national tools (electronic and paper-based) are carried out.
- He/She will manage the CBO database and be able to update reports to reflect the status of supported clients.
- He/She will work with the CCFN SI team to keep track of service delivery to CBO led clients through prescribed reporting platforms.
- They will additionally ensure the availability of quality data through regular scheduled data verifications and validations activities.
- S/he will ensure the availability and use of Program Monitoring and Evaluation tools.
- S/he will assist in the general implementation of SI deliverables in the CBO linked health facilities and contribute to the overall success of Caritas Nigeria’s objectives
Key Areas of Accountability
- Coordinate M&E activities for the CBO to ensure appropriate standards are established for data availability, quality, and general management.
- Monitor and ensure appropriate service documentation into the HIV/AIDS service delivery tools to be utilized by CBOs are achieved routinely.
- Ensure that medical record of all patients who are provided services daily are updated into the EMR.
- Ensure complete entries into the EMR of HTS and Treatment indicators.
- Participate in data abstractions and data entries during quality improvement activities.
- Conduct monthly documentation audit of folders and registers and flag areas that need improvement to the QI backstop.
- Ensures review of facility performance indicators by the team.
- Responsible for logistic support activities which include prompt supply of PMM and PME forms and registers in the course of project implementation to prevent of stock outs of same.
- Participate in relevant trainings, coaching sessions and other forums that increases job knowledge and improves overall quality.
- Participates actively in Data Quality Assurance (DQA) activities and other data quality and validation activities to ensure our data meets standards set for quality.
- Assist with the generation and sharing with the program staff, clients’ appointments, missed appointments and IIT lists
- Participate in monthly Quality, Monitoring & Evaluation meetings to improve documentation and program data quality and reporting including data validation with other CBO technical staff.
- Generate and submit weekly and monthly program reports as required to CCFN and CBO leadership.
- Perform oversight functions over the DEAs
- Manage any special request from the facility or implementing partner (CCFN) as regards patients’ data or reports following the appropriate protocols.
- Responsible for PMM tools quantification and requisition.
- Perform any other duties as deemed fit by the technical supervisors.

- The Responsibilities (Above) are not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee will also perform other related tasks as required and will be responsible for reporting and communicating progress and achievement of the specific assigned tasks.

- Program Leadership, Immediate supervisor(s), Strategic Information Lead

- Local SDF Partners, Government at Local and State Levels, Civil Societies, Sister Agencies and Organizations, other Relevant Bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified applicants must have:
- Minimum of OND, Bachelor's Degree, or HND preferable.
- Completion of NYSC or an exemption certificate.
- A Master's Degree is an added advantage
- At least 2 years experience in health-related M&E.
- Hands on experience in the use of computer (Word processing, Excel, and database programs).
- Good communication and reporting skills including proficiency in both written and spoken English.
