Job Title: Monitoring and evaluation Officer

Job Description

  • We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in the successful implementation of the "Building Bridges of Reconciliation (BBR)" project.

Project Overview

  • Allamin Foundation is partnering with the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) to implement the Building Bridges of Reconciliation (BBR) project in Maiduguri and Jere local government areas in Borno State. The project aims to strengthen community-based deradicalization and empowerment of women and girls affected by radicalization within the context of the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State, Nigeria.
  • The overarching objective is to facilitate social reintegration, promote peace, and enable economic empowerment by dispelling misconceptions, fostering understanding, and empowering women and girls to become agents of positive change within their communities.

Role and Responsibilities

  • As the M&E Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project's activities and outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Regularly monitor project activities and outcomes to ensure they are on track with the project's timeline and objectives.
  • Support the design and implementation of baseline, midline, and endline assessments to measure the impact of the project on beneficiaries.
  • Prepare timely and accurate progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including indicators, targets, data collection tools, and methodologies aligned with project goals and objectives.
  • Support the collection of quantitative and qualitative data through surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and other methods.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of monitoring and evaluation activities, including data sets, reports, and documentation of best practices and challenges.
  • Maintain consistent oversight of project activities to guarantee their alignment with the designated plans, promptly identifying any discrepancies or difficulties and proposing appropriate corrections.
  • Train project staff, partners, and beneficiaries on data collection methods, tools, and reporting requirements to ensure consistent and high-quality data collection.
  • Analyze monitoring data to identify trends, success stories, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality throughout the data collection and reporting processes.

Requirements
Education:

  • A Bachelor's in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Statistics or a related discipline. A master's degree is a strong asset.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably with community-based reintegration or peacebuilding projects, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution, peacebuilding, gender equality, and social reintegration principles.
  • Familiarity with the local context of Borno State and its challenges related to conflict and radicalization.
  • Familiarity with gender-sensitive programming and empowerment-focused initiatives.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and management tools such as Excel, SPSS, STATA, Kobo Collect, or other statistical software.
  • Experience in designing and conducting baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Strong ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to extract meaningful insights and recommendations.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in preparing reports, briefs, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Kanuri or Hausa is Required.
  • Ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
