African Natural Resources & Mines Limited (ANRML) was incorporated in 2012 as part of African Industries Group’s plan to embark on backward integration for its steel production. ANRML started its foray into mining with the acquisition of a mining lease in Kaduna State. Subsequently, ANRML has also acquired multiple mining and exploration licenses for various minerals at over 15 sites, and exploration activities are being carried out.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Plant)

Location: Gujeni, Kaduna

Job Summary

  • Oversee and manage all maintenance and repair activities associated with Crusher Plant Equipment.
  • Manage and motivate his team, ensure co-ordination and co-operation between his and other departments.
  • Ensure completion of mechanical maintenance jobs with the highest level of quality, safety and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability.
  • Embrace preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and contribute to their improvement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading, directing and supervising a team of mechanical technicians
  • Distributing tasks and responsibilities among the team members based on their skills and expertise.
  • Developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and extendequipment lifespan.
  • Prepare weekly / monthly maintenance reports for the attention of the Head, Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Analyze production and maintenance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with other engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Inspecting equipment functionality after troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Evaluating how much labor and materials are required for plant equipment maintenance.
  • Optimize maintenance operations, using best available tools and procedures, in order to maximize equipment availability.
  • Ensure, upon completion of repairs, that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meet operational requirements, fully inspected, tested, clean and safe.
  • Developspecifications for manufacture and determine materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities, and layout of plants and systems.

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B. Eng) is required.
  • A minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a plant mechanical engineeris required.
  • Must have in-depth, hands-on experience in the maintenance of large equipment like ball mills, vibrating screens, gear boxes and exciters, crushers, slurry tank agitators, slurry pumps, conveyors, all types of rotary equipment, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must be capable of making fixtures for mechanical maintenance works like coupling pullers, bearing pullers, wire rope slings, and torque shaft alignment.
  • Must have expertise in the use of measuring instruments like the inside/outside micrometer, vernier caliper, thread gauge, slip gauge, depth gauge, bevel protactor, and master level.
  • Excellent management and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have hands-on experience in plant safety, mechanical maintenance, heavy equipment erection, rotary equipment alignment, troubleshooting preventive maintenance, and the use of measuring instruments.
  • Must have high-level hands-on experience in drive alignment (resilient coupling, fluid coupling, gear coupling, cardan shafts, torsion shafts, journal bearings, large antifriction bearing fitment).
