We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Marine Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure all cargo operations are conducted safely and efficiently according to the TIB and SOPM.
  • Verify that all cargo handling systems are operating as intended to uphold the terminal's safety and integrity.
  • Oversee the detailed storage and discharge of crude to the shuttle tankers.
  • Maintain the operational readiness of the Conventional mooring buoy pre and post offtakes.
  • Inspect, test, and support the change out of the offtake hoses and Mooring hawsers lines according to SPDC requirements.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the Safety Case and implementation of the Safety Management System/SEAM standard on the terminal.
  • Assist the SOKU PUM in liaising with government oil & gas regulators (NMDPRA & NUPRC) and other government representatives (e.g. NNPC, Surveyors) involve in oil lifting at the terminal.
  • Check the readiness of loading equipment and emergency response tools (oil spill kit, fire extinguishers, medical first aid kit) at the jetty manifold prior to the arrival of shuttle tankers.
  • Ensure loading hoses are properly secure after every loading operation.
  • Act as the Permit to Work "Area Authority" for marine systems, cargo handling, and tank management systems.
  • Ensure all relevant marine safety equipment and systems are kept in an operable condition.
  • Manage the functioning and correct setting of all working channels of all marine radio communication equipment during cargo loading .
  • Coordinate the offtake operation in collaboration with the SOKU Operation Team.

Qualifications

  • Hold A valid deck officer OOW unlimited CoC with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maritime industry with at least 3 years working on a tanker.

Work Experience:

  • A working knowledge of Terminal working practices is required as well as a good knowledge on cargo loading and communication, including the use of associated safety systems.
  • Previous experience in the Management of crude loading and discharging operation on a shuttle tanker will be advantage

Professional Certifications: 

  • STCW95 officer of the Watch certificate with tanker endorsement and/or relevant degree in marine related discipline.

Key Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to organise and plan work effectively, lead and manage others.
  • Good Knowledge on the ways to reduce demurrage cost and oil loss claims.
  • Understanding procedures relating to oil accounts in the work process.
  • Basic knowledge on tanker operation and terminology
  • Basic Knowledge of the best industry standards and requirements for tankers operations and terminal marine assets e.g., OCIMF, SIGTTO, ICS, PIANC, etc.
