Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full Time

About the role

  • As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for performing all kinds of service operations (inspections), defined assembly operations, and maintenance repairs with the highest level of quality and efficiency.
  • Through your specialist knowledge, and appreciation of the brand and product, you promote the image of the service organisation, thus contributing to customer satisfaction.
  • You support the System Technician during complex repairs on overall systems.
  • You will also be required to follow the operating instructions for vehicle repairs; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance.

Duties
Repair/ Maintenance:

  • Research workshop information and checking it is up to date.
  • Preparing the equipment for the workplace.
  • Completing any and all paperwork relating to the maintenance procedures in a timely manner.
  • Performing all maintenance services in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and in line with the maintenance schedule/computer.
  • Performing defined, as well as comprehensive, assembly and repair operations in cooperation with/under the instruction of a system or Diagnosis Technician.
  • Documenting the performed work and returning the workshop order.
  • Passing the vehicle on and cleaning up the workplace.
  • Follow the Daimler Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Storage Maintenance Guidelines as directed.
  • Adhere strictly to the Weststar Associates Limited and Mercedes-Benz safety policy, Handbook and Code of Conduct.
  • Carrying out visual inspections, adjustment operations, adjustments, changing and filling operating fluids and replacing wear parts (e.g. brake linings).
  • Notify supervisor of any discrepancies of vehicle operations for vehicles that have been inspected.
  • Resetting the maintenance systems in accordance with the scope of maintenance.
  • Exchanging or replacing defective parts. Preparing the part for return if it has to be returned for reconditioning.
  • Checking that the customer’s vehicle has been cleaned.

Work Preparation:

  • Provision of operational and technical support to the Service and Workshop departments in order to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Accepting the workshop order and checking the contents for completeness.
  • Registering all the accumulated processing times.
  • Using various checklists during vehicle reception makes it possible to check and document the proper performance of the individual work steps.

Other special tasks:

  • Supporting the other departments.
  • Any other duties as required by your Supervisor.

Requirements

  • HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance, or any other relevant field is required.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience working in the service and workshop industry (in the automobile industry).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn, work and be a team player.
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver.
