We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Assistant State Coordinator - Malaria SBCC
Locations: Cross River and Oyo
Reports to: State Coordinator
Summary
- The Assistant State Coordinator- Malaria SBC will provide technical and programmatic support to the state and LGA project team in the process of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social and community mobilization activities
- S/he is expected to work under the direction of the State Coordinator, in close collaboration with the Social Mobilization Assistants in the LGAs, LGA Malaria officer, Ward Development Committees to plan, organize, conduct, report and follow-up social and community mobilization activities related to malaria
Key Roles and Responsibilities
In addition to the overall technical inputs to the project as described above, specific duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Support implementation of social and community mobilization activities in collaboration with the LGA Social Mobilization Assistants, LGA RBM focal persons, Faith Leaders, Community leaders and Ward Development Committees
- Support advocacy with religious and community leaders to create an enabling environment to improve awareness on the benefits of malaria and promote uptake of services
- Organize meetings with religious, traditional and community leaders, village heads, community groups, women’s groups, trade associations and other relevant community segments to improve awareness on family planning and availability of services
- Support training and supervision of Community Mobilizers and other social/community mobilization volunteers
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Carry out other tasks to support the project efforts as assigned
- Research, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Effectively collect, collate and report social/community mobilization data as required
- Collaborate with State Coordinator and State M&E Officers to ensure documentation of all community mobilization activities
- Prepare and submit timely and quality activity reports, including field notes and success stories, to effectively capture lessons learnt on the ground from the projects
- Document best practices or most significant success stories of the project activities
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Communication, Social Science, Humanities, other) required. Master's Degree highly valued
- Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in advocacy, social and/or community mobilization in malaria programs
- Excellent communication, and organizational skills; and ability to influence and facilitate advocacy agendas at State and LGA levels
- Understanding of local communities and cultures in the State of assignment, and ability to communicate fluently in the commonly spoken local language
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to travel and work in difficult settings, including remote rural areas of the state
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software
- Well-organized, with ability to track multiple activities and deadlines
- Experience in providing administrative leadership and support to work teams
- Ability to work successfully in cross-cultural, team-based environment.
Job Title: Finance Assistant
Locations: Cross River and Oyo
Reports To: Senior Finance Officer
General Duties
- Assist the State Coordinator to manage the financial transactions in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
- Preparation of financial reports as required
- Preparation, management and control of the budget
Banking Operations:
- Raising of cheques and Cheque Payment Vouchers (CPVs)
- Posting of all CPVs into QuickBooks
- Cash withdrawals
- Cheque lodgments
- Submits transfer instructions
- Payment of cheques
- Bank reconciliation statements of all sub accounts
Petty Cash Management:
- Maintains the petty cash imprest system
- Raising of petty cash vouchers (PCV)
- Cash disbursements
- Posting of all petty cash vouchers into QuickBooks on a daily basis
- Keep accurate records of petty cash and reconcile daily
Travel Advances:
- Process travel authorization and scope of travels
- Review of travel and activity retirement for the state offices
Others
- Ascertain records of consultants and vendors i.e. contracts, CVs, timesheets and invoices
- Office payment of supplies, utilities, telecommunication, mailing
- Support all project procurements and the inventory/maintenance of all equipment, materials where necessary
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualification and Experience
- B.Sc. in Accounting (any professional qualification will be an added advantage)
- At least 1-year work experience in finance (NGO experience will be an added advantage).
Job Title: State Coordinator
Location: Oyo
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Summary
- The State Coordinator will be responsible for managing the implementation of a malaria project community activities, with responsibilities for overall coordination and support of the SBC related activities including planning, implementation and monitoring of all program activities within the state
- He / She will work closely with government and local partners in the state to ensure activities are implemented according to agreed work plans and budgets and in-conformity with quality standards and national guidelines
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Partnerships and coordination with the state relevant stakeholders including SMoH / SMEP and the funder’s Implementing partners on the project
- Represent the program in all relevant platforms to coordinate SBCC interventions in the State, LGAs, Wards, facility and community level and ensure all activities are implemented with the support of Assistant State Coordinator in collaboration with Social Mobilization Assistants in the LGAs, LGA RBM officers, Ward Development Committees to plan, organize, conduct, report and follow-up social and community mobilization activities related to malaria.
Technical Support and Reporting:
- Work in close collaboration with CCSI Head quarter staff and the project staff:
- Provide technical support/supervision to ensure quality implementation of community level activities.
- Participate and support planning, communication, training, implementation of all activities.
- Participate in the development, review, and pilot testing of SBC materials, curricula and training materials.
- Ensure timely activity implementation in accordance with the work plan
- Create and maintain database of active community structures
- Maintain regular communication with CCSI Head quarter staff and submit regular reports as well as timely updates on implementation and other challenges
- Maintain the project office and ensure all project equipment and materials are effectively utilized for intended purposes in the field, and support coordination of field visits
- Represent the project in all state level meetings and key events and participate in all malaria sub-committee meetings.
Research, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:
- Work in close collaboration with the project’s, monitoring, evaluation and learning team to:
- Ensure that all necessary information, from both routine reporting as well as from ad hoc data collection efforts are collected
- Monitor activities to ensure all SBCC activities in work plan are documented and reported on regular basis
- Document best practices or most significant success stories of the project activities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Communication, Social Science, Humanities, other) required. Master's Degree highly valued
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience managing a Malaria or related Health programs in Nigeria
- Advocacy, SBCC and/or Community Mobilization expertise highly valued
- Excellent communication, and organizational skills; and ability to influence and facilitate advocacy agendas at LGA and State level
- Well-organized, with ability to track multiple activities and deadlines
- Experience in providing administrative leadership and support to work teams
- Ability to travel and work in difficult settings, including remote rural areas of Nigeria
- Extensive knowledge of community structures and a minimum of two years working experience in community engagement, social mobilization and/or social and behavior change communication for a public health issue at state level
- Experience of working with Government counterparts, local partners, at LGA and community levels
- Understanding of local communities and cultures in the State of assignment, and ability to communicate fluently in the commonly spoken local language
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and local language
- Ability to travel and work in difficult settings, including remote rural areas of the state
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software
