Marie Stopes International Organisation Nigeria (MSION) is implementing the Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy (HTSP) component of the newly awarded UK Depanment for International Development, (DFID) Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNGH 2) Project in partnership with the FG/GRM International limited led consortium.
The project is aimed at improving equitable access and delivery of high impact maternal. new born and child health services targeted at underserved communities in six selected northern Nigerians states (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina. Yobe and Zamfara) with a view to dramatically increase utilization of HTSP services.
MSION is recruiting the following vacant positions for the MNCH2 project:
Job Title: Regional HTSP Trainer
Location: Kano, Kaduna
Reporting to: HTSP Technical Advisor
Overall Responsibility
Working with and reportifl9 to the HTSP Technical Advisor for MNCH 2 Project, the Regional HTSP Trainer will be responsible for conducting training needs assessment selection of trainees, competency - based trainings, undertaking mentoring, coaching and supportive supervision of trainees, distribution of equipment and HTSP commodities. as well as ensuring trained providers adhere to Federal Ministry of Health (FM oH) and MSION quality standards,
Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct training needs assessment and facility audits and using result to recommend the minimum package of support to the HFs in each state,
- Support development and maintenance of excellent relationships with government (SMoH), partners and other public institutions in the state with a view to strengthening DnD's impact and future funding opportunities at regional level.
- Liaise with other service delivery teams including demand side thematic area and partners to ensure training activities are integrated at all levels,
- Strengthen supportive supervision mechanism and ensure that trainers and trainees adherence to FMoH/MSION approved policies, procedures and guidelines
- Implement integrated HTSP clinical, outreach and supportive supervision trainings, using approved FMoH competency-based training manuals,
- Prepare training concepts, oversee trainings: prepare both training and financial reports following completion of each training activity in the assigned states.
- Ensure that job aids (rEferral forms, service delivery guidelines, protocols and HTSP performance standards), IEC materials and documentation forms required by health facilities are in adequate quantity,
- Submit monthly and quarterly training and health facility performance improvement reports including training data base for each project state.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by line manager,
Qualifications, Skills & Experience- MBBS (OBGYN) Degree in clinical nursing or midwifery or RN/RM with related experience
- Trained in Clinical Training Skills (CTS) and technical expertise in HTSP service delivery including lARC
- 3-5 years' experience in HTSP service delivery: designing and managing clinical trainings in poor resource settings.
- Experience of DfiD, USAID, The Bill and Melinda Gates funded projects, inCluding working in a diverse team environment preferred,
- Familiarity with the different cultural, social and religious identities in Nigeria, international health, development issues and the international donor community
- Familiarity/Experience with geography of the intervention states are desired,
- Experience of working with public and private healthcare sector operators is desirable:
- Willingness to frequently travel within project implementation States
Job Title: Nurse Aide/Infection Prevention Officers
Location: Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfara Reporting to: Outreach Team Coordinator Responsibilities:- Keep the client care areas and all used medical equipment tidy, neat and clean at all time
- Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients' special needs such as flexibility on working hours, strict privacy and confidentiality to generate demand for integrated MNCH services .
- Ensure proper management and disposal of both general and medical waste.
- Assist the outreach team in providing quality integrated services and adhering to infection prevention practices during training and supportive supervision.
- Assist with maintaining medical stock, drug inventory and ordering register
- Ensure all clinical Instruments are washed, sterilised and stored properly
- Ensure all the drapes are properly washed and stored.
- Promote and maintain a welcoming, friendly, professtonat and effieient atmosphere towards all clients at all times
- Assist with administrative work within limits when necessary.
- Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the outreach team coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience- Must have at least basic education to be able to read and write English.

- Ability to speak English and local languages

Job Title: State Outreach Coordinator
Location: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Yobe and Zamfara Reporting to: MNCH2 State Team Leader Overall ResponsibiltiesWorking with and reporting to the State Team Leader for MNCH 2 Project. The State Outreach Coordinator will build partnerships and network with state and communities to identify and select outreach sites. design and implement outreach services while adhering to FMoH and MSION quality standards. Implement clinical training activities and document reports of outreach activities as well as participate in the conduct of supportive supervision, coaching and mentoring of trainees.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the state to map out. identify and assess eligible health facilities that will benefit from training, facility based and outreach services .
- Work with skilled service providers to establish proper referrals and linkages between HFs and with communities
- Keep and manage records of all outreach activities and provide monthly and quarterly activity updates to state team leader and Regional HTSP trainer
- Work with Master Trainer Mentors and Local govemment teams to conduct supportive supervision including mentoring and coaching.
- Develop functional relationships with the state, community gate keepers including identifiable community leaders, religious leaders and household heads in the MNCH2 states and facilitate community entry approaches through innovative partnerships .
- Conduct cascade HTSP training for service providers from Public Health facilities in the state .
- Provide leadership (point person) to the state outreach team and ensure that the underserved communities located around health facilities without skilled providers are reached with inlegrated HTSP outreach services.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Health, Public Health or Nursing.

Job Title: Outreach Officers
Location: Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfara Reporting to: State Outreach Coordinator Key Responsibilities:- Support the Master Trainer Mentors to conduct cascade training for service providers from PHC facilities in the project state.
- Support trained service providers to initiate provision of high quality integrated HTSP services at HF level
- Participate in the conduct of HTSP out reach services in the hard to reach communities and health facilities without skilled providers in the project state.
- Support MSION in achieving its milestones under the OFID funded MNCH 2 project in project state within the context of the MSION/MNCH 2 project core values such as client focus and no blame culture.
- Participate fully in post training and integrated supportive supervision exercise of trained service providers.
- Support service providers to ensure proper documentation of service delivery data and records of community outreach activities.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience- Must have a recognised clinical qualification in Midwifery or Nursing (Registered Midwife or Nurse)
- At least 1 year post-graduation experience in a Midwifery position [ESSENTIAL]
