Monument Distillers Nigeria Limited (MDN) launched in Nigeria in March 2019 with the acquisition of the 1960 Rootz Bitters brand and the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, moving Rootz’ production facility to Lagos.

Job Title: Laboratory Analyst

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Laboratory Analyst provides professional, technical, and competent advice on quality.
  • The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality of all incoming raw and packaging materials, overseeing finished product quality, and supervising all online operations within the organization.
  • This role reports to the QC Specialist

The candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • To implement Food Safety policies and procedures on site and ensure the site is compliant with legislation.
  • Ensure objectives outlined in The Quality & Food Safety Statements are followed and maintained.
  • Provide support in the analysis of all ongoing NPD projects in the factory / organization.
  • Maintain records pertaining to NAFDAC, SON, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, etc.
  • Ensure all employees / contractors comply with Food Safety policies / local / national regulations.
  • Ensure daily food safety tracker update.
  • Ensure Zero Trade recall.
  • Follow standard routine and non-routine laboratory procedures and test methods.
  • Perform complex chemical tests on materials and samples as requested.
  • Diligently log and analyze the data revealed by lab test.
  • Perform maintenance on lab equipment by making calibrations, cleaning equipment, troubleshooting lab equipment to spot problems and report issues.

Qualification & Experience

  • A minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Food Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Science Laboratory Technology.
  • Three (3) - Five (5) years of experience as an Analyst in the manufacturing industry.
  • Broad knowledge of Food Safety / industrial manufacturing systems and practices is a prerequisite.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Standards and compliance requirements
  • Relevant certifications in Laboratory Practices and Quality Control are an added advantage.
  • Experience with Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes is essential.
