Job Title: Communications Analyst

Overview
- Verod’s Analyst, Communications is ultimately responsible for the firm’s communication and public relations.
- This role will report to the Head, Investor Relations and will be responsible for leading the strategy development and execution of the communications plan across the business.
- This is an opportunity for a candidate with strong experience across both internal and external communications to join a fast-growing emerging markets private firm.
- The role will focus on developing and delivering an engaging stakeholder communications plan, to include investor, portfolio companies and client communications, marketing communications and media relations.
- She/he will work with third party media outlets to connect with potential customers, investors, and other stakeholders with the goal of establishing or maintaining favourable public opinions.
- The successful candidate will be a results-driven and solutions-oriented individual, adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- This person must be a strong collaborator, and able to drive the role of communications in Verod.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Investor Relations to ensure implementation of a strong global communications plan, budget and strategy for execution
- Be a strong consultant to the Management team and support business leaders across our portfolio for communications needs
- Lead on appropriate positioning of the firm as part of the communication strategy and content, ensuring consistency and ‘one voice’ across internal and external communications
- Develop social media presence and strategy for execution across various media platforms such as the company Website, LinkedIn and Twitter
- Write thought pieces to position the firm as a thought leader in the space
- Manage and co-produce website, newsletters, story-coverages about partner companies, submitting and highlighting Verod (and partner companies) for awards, etc.
- Support the ExCo and other Management Team/Colleagues with preparation and participation in conferences, panels, business publications other external representation of the firm
- Support with distilling the Firm strategy clearly and concisely into clear goals, and position appropriately for internal and external stakeholders (LP’s, Sector experts etc.)
- Responsible for all internal and external communications regarding CSR activities, speaker events, sponsored events ensuring tone represents our brand and values appropriately
- Support portfolio companies with communications as the need arises
- Disseminate accurate information across a range of media such as printed reports, websites, password protected websites, regular meetings and one-on-one visits depending on the unique needs of each stakeholder
Key Experience
- University Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or English
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a Communications role gained in the Financial Services, Investment Management (or related) sector or Professional Services firm (ideally within the Financial Services arm)
- Experience across both internal and external communications
- Excellent content writing skills. Design and copy writing skills advantageous
- External communications experience to include experience in raising brand profile eg. through client communications, marketing communications and media relations
- Experience of improving social media presence across multiple platforms
- Experience in using thought leadership content for marketing purposes
- Proven ability to establish and maintain high level of credibility with senior executives
- Must be creative, agile and adept in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and leverage multiple resources to meet the firm’s objectives
- Ability to collaborate with the Head, Investor Relations as a strategic thought partner, aligning around a shared vision for the firm and shaping the communication strategy in support of the Fund’s and Partner Companies

Job Title: Investment Professional
Location: Lagos

Overview
- The Investment Professional is a member of the firm’s Investment Team, supporting senior members of the team (Partners, VPs and Senior Managers) across the entire transaction lifecycle through financial analysis/modelling, risk reviews, market research, document preparation, management team and expert engagement, business development, project updates and review of financial and business reports.
- The Investment Team also works with the Head of Investor Relations on LP engagement and the Finance Team on portfolio valuations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Track deal pipeline and conduct market research and outreach to facilitate origination efforts
- Screen potential investment opportunities through extensive financial, operational and market analysis as well as financial modelling, to provide recommendations on opportunities to consider further
- Assist in preparation and presentation of deal memos and recommendations to the Investment Committee
- Provide support on and/or run parts of the transaction process (due diligence, negotiations, deal structuring, exits, etc)
- Monitor and analyze key metrics of partner companies and provide support to management teams to execute on value creation plans
- Support with reporting to and engagement with Fund investors
Key Requirements
- A mature, responsible and resourceful individual with sound judgement and the ability to take initiative and problem-solve
- High level oral and written communications skills and proven attention to detail
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in a PE, M&A, Investment Banking or Consulting role spent conducting financial and operational analysis and engaging with senior management teams
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite especially Excel and Power Point
- Advanced level modelling and financial analysis skills, including knowledge of operating models, detailed financial projections and various types of valuation and returns analysis
- Good time management skills are a must for this role
- Willingness to travel and work on-site at partner companies when required

Job Title: Head, Investor Relations & Communications

Overview
- Verod’s Head, Investor Relations and Communication is a member of the firm’s Management Team. Head, Investor Relations and Communication is ultimately responsible for supporting every aspect of the firm’s business, including fundraising, strategic planning, financing investments, reporting, compliance and legal, deal execution/ transaction support, servicing and fostering numerous internal and external relationships including placement agents, investors, administrators, banks and lawyers while acting as a spokesperson for all investment activity of the firm to the world.
- She or he will be responsible for executing investor relations focused initiatives for existing and prospective investors. This will include providing day-to-day oversight and support for coverage of Verod’s global investor base.
- The individual will interact with all levels of the firm including the partners (ExCo), management team, investment professionals and particularly the Finance and ESG teams.
- She or he will serve as the major point of contact between investors and the firm requiring a multidisciplinary set of skills and experience in communications, finance, marketing and law.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Act as the single point of contact for all external stakeholder’s information requests. Play the role of point of contact for all LPs to direct queries towards the fund as well as for the internal staff at fund to respond accurately and consistently to LP requests
- Ensure there is an ongoing flow of open and compelling information to stakeholders, portraying the Firm in a positive light while reporting of important trends in the industry
- Interface with investment professionals and deal team leads to gather specific insights and assist with client preparation in advance of investor meetings, including drafting detailed briefing notes with other relevant communication material
- Develop a compelling investor relations roadmap and proactively manage investor relationships for the funds
- Devise and execute on strategies to raise investor awareness and understanding of the business, particularly for fund raising activities based on best practice

- Lead the refocusing of CSR activity (Verod Foundation) to aid and align with the ESG offering of the firm to position Verod as the lead institution in sustainable investments and activities in West Africa
Key Experience
- University Degree in Business, Economics, Communications, Marketing or Finance. MBA desirable
- Embody over 7+ years’ experience in a combination of the following disciplines: investor relations, corporate development, marketing and communications, preferably within private equity, corporate finance and investment banking. A mix of international and African markets focus would be advantageous
- Strong project management skills and experience required
- Fluency in French advantageous
- A background in Investment management or Finance not required but would be advantageous
- Must be creative, agile and adept in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and leverage multiple resources to meet fund’s objectives

- The Associate, Partners’ Office role at Verod is an extension of the Partners (Executive Committee or ‘ExCo’). She or he is a highly motivated individual who will work directly with the ExCo to provide strategic support in a one-on-one working relationship in addition to handling special and/or special projects requiring analytical rigour and strong business acumen.
- This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in challenging work in internal strategy, firm building as well as business development for an emerging markets private equity firm. This will comprise assisting the ExCo with on the go analytics/ research assistance through strategic planning, budgeting, scheduling, overseeing special projects to build lasting relationships with numerous internal and external stakeholders including investors, regulators and IC members.
- She or he will accompany and work directly with the ExCo in their interactions with portfolio companies, target companies, existing and potential partners.
- The role will occasionally extend to support the Management team with coordinating and agenda-setting for Management meetings as well as leading projects oriented at firm-building.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess strategic options for the firm’s growth and development while working on special projects for the Partners
- Be in charge or budgeting for special projects and scheduling meetings for the Partners

Key Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related subjects
- Embody 5-7 years’ experience in a combination of the following disciplines: investor relations, corporate development, marketing and communications, preferably within asset management, corporate finance or investment banking. A mix of international and African markets focus would be advantageous
