We are recruiting to fill the positions below:     Job Title: Human Resources Specialist Locations: Abuja and Minna, Niger Job Type: Full-time Preferred Start Date: 1st October, 2019 Specific Responsibilities

  • As the Human Resources Specialist, you will report to the Pilot Manager. You will establish the groundwork for the growth, sustainability, and professional development of our team as it grows. You will set up essential human resources policies, oversee staff payroll and benefits, and support the program's recruiting and onboarding.
  • HR Policies, Payroll & Benefits: As a pilot for a global organization, the team in Nigeria has made due with the minimal context-specific HR policies. One of your main roles will be to integrate Nigeria's context with global processes to professional the standards and support of our team!
  • Staff Development: Once you have familiarized yourself with how One Acre Fund invests in its team- from mentorship, to bi-annual reviews, to development plans, to hard & soft skills development- you will ensure managers and staff meet the minimum requirements while maximizing development opportunities.
  • Onboarding: The faster new team members become comfortable with their surroundings, the sooner they can turn their attention to making an impact in the lives of our clients. You will oversee and improve on the reception and onboarding process, building new staffs' experience from accepting the role until their first biannual review
  • Hiring: As a pilot, our staffing needs right now are small. But by 2021, we may need to double or even triple our team! Between now and then, you can establish great hiring processes to ensure the program can meet those targets. You will inform current hiring processes and test approaches to hire better, faster.
  • Recruitment: As One Acre Fund is relatively new in Nigeria, you will build recruitment nodes, networks, and policies to support current recruitment efforts, while laying the foundations for accelerated growth in the coming years. You will manage relationships with the global recruitment team & recruiting firms to short-list top candidates, while working with pilot leadership to determine staffing strategies 2020+.

Qualifications

  • +5 years of professional work experience OR an undergraduate degree and 2+ years of professional work experience in Human Resources, Recruitment in Nigeria
  • Written & verbal fluency in English required; written & verbal fluency in Hausa desired
  • Thoughtful understanding of the employment and labor laws of Nigeria
  • Maintain complex spreadsheets on Excel and familiarity with Google Suite/Microsoft 365

  • As an organization, we constantly seek to impact more farmers. In Nigeria, this work started two years ago. This role is part of a small team based in Minna, whose purpose is to successfully establish the OAF model in Nigeria, starting small but scaling-up rapidly within the next few years. The Data Quality Coordinator will report to the Nigeria Innovations Associate.
  • The Data Quality Coordinator will manage and oversees the development of surveys and the execution of the data gathering efforts of the pilot. More specifically, this role includes: planning and creating surveys on CommCare software, cleaning and analyzing data from surveys, and recommending programmatic decisions based on that analysis. By constantly developing, gathering and analyzing data about the program’s impact on farmers’ lives, the pilot will be in a position to scale much more quickly.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support the development of and detailed planning for executing rolling surveys: The Data Quality Coordinator will work closely with the Innovations Associate to design surveys based on programmatic need and generate them in the CommCare software.
  • Manage the execution of day-to-day survey operations: This is partly a field-based position. Expect to spend some time interacting with smallholder farmers, whether to observe the efficiency of the survey tools or conduct back-checks on data already collected. When in the office, expect to develop survey tools, train enumerators on same, review, clean, and analyze data in a way that allows the program to learn quickly.
  • Team building and management: The Data Quality Coordinator will oversee and conduct training of enumerators as required. This is to ensure that they are ready and able to collect high quality data while also supporting farmers on a daily basis in the field, as well as steadily building capacity and competency across the team.

  • Strong computer skills in at least Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • At least 2 years of survey management experience at work or outside of work.

The Nigeria Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manger will report to the Nigeria Innovations Associate.
  • The Nigeria M&E Coordinator will plan and oversee the day-to-day execution of the data gathering efforts of the pilot. More specifically, this role includes: staff management of a team of 2-4 enumerators, planning and creating surveys on CommCare software, cleaning and analyzing data from surveys, and recommending programmatic decisions based on that analysis. By constantly gathering and analyzing data about the program’s impact on farmers’ lives, the pilot will be in a position to scale much more quickly. On a day-to-day basis, the Nigeria M&E Manager will execute a mix of activities, depending on the annual planting calendar:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate on strategy for survey and data gathering efforts: The M&E Coordinator will work closely with the Innovations Associate and Data Manager to optimize learnings from a continuous survey effort.
  • Manage the execution of day-to-day survey operations: This is a largely field-based position. Expect to spend most days interacting with field-based staff and our customers, whether to oversee survey collection, run focus groups, or visit trial plots to monitor maize growth. When in the office, expect to work plan and collaborate with other teams to maximize your team’s capacity.
  • Team building and management: This is a management position. The M&E Coordinator will manage a team of ~8 enumerators. This includes hiring and training staff, ensuring they are ready and able to support farmers on a daily basis in the field, as well as steadily building capacity and competency across your team as it grows.
