About the role
- The Programme Officer will manage daily activities and execute programmes with partners, enhancing the quality of Sightsavers programmes. They will implement five Preventive Chemotherapy (PCT) Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Benue State and deliver NTD programme targets. Responsibilities include providing programme management guidance, technical support, impact assessments, and advocacy for NTD elimination.

Responsibilities
- The Programme Officer will be detail-oriented and proactive, with a passion for programme management and public health.
- They will manage daily activities and execute programmes with partners, implementing five Preventive Chemotherapy (PCT) NTDs in Benue State.
- Responsibilities include delivering NTD programme targets, providing technical support, impact assessments, and advocacy for NTD elimination.
- The role requires strong financial management, budgeting, and communication skills.
- The Programme Officer will work with minimum supervision and have the right to work in Nigeria
- Support partners in identifying and addressing technical and capacity-building needs throughout the project cycle.
- Manage all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, financial and asset management, reporting, and documentation for the Benue NTD project.
- Build effective partner relationships and promote shared learning and collaboration.
- Provide high-quality information on case studies and news stories to support fundraising efforts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with the Benue State Ministry of Health and other partners to integrate sustainable plans into public health systems.
- Implement new approaches and tools, including logistics and drug audits, and support mass drug administrations.
- Monitor and evaluate NTD programme performance and assist in identifying operational research opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with various partners and stakeholders to strengthen advocacy and visibility.
- Develop relationships with NGOs to support funding and service delivery, including those in the WASH sector.
- Represent Sightsavers at State-level meetings and ensure information flow across teams and partners.
- Assist in disseminating information on NTD activities, studies, research, and lessons learned.
- Ensure projects conduct research and publish findings in international peer-reviewed publications.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education), or equivalent experience.
- Experience in all aspects of project management within a community development programme within an NGO.
- Knowledge and proven working experience of NTDs.
- Experience of working with partners.
- Ability and experience in influencing high-level government officials and NGO leaders.
- Ability to deliver group training sessions
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships for effective management of partnerships and collaborative work as part of a global team.
- Proven ability to think strategically and translate concepts into effective action plans.
- Excellent financial and resource management skills
- Financial management within programmes, including budgeting.
- Experience in people management, managing a team or individual, with a strong understanding of culturally and ethnically sensitive issues.
- Experience in advocacy work, with the ability to influence high-level government officials and/or other decision-making bodies.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to travel regularly on a national basis.
