We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below:     Job Title: Logistics Assistant ID: 2018-1228 Location: Nigeria Overview The Coordinating Implementation Research to Communicate Learning and Evidence (CIRCLE) project provides technical, logistical and administrative support to the USAID Health Research Program, to facilitate and support research-to-use processes to advance USAID’s global health priorities. CIRCLE supports the Health Research Program through stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, expert mobilization and consultation, knowledge management, implementation research, and research translation. In 2015 USAID commissioned a landscape analysis to explore the evolution of child health, and to map leadership and stakeholder networks to inform future investments in child health. Based on recommendations from this initial study, CIRCLE will implement a follow-on study to deepen understanding of progress on child health by exploring the effects of leadership, governance, and networks on programs and outcomes over the past 10-15 years in four selected Sub-Saharan African countries. This activity will elucidate country perspectives on important drivers of change in child health, and assess how these drivers can be harnessed to advance outcome achievement.  Findings are intended to help inform future USAID investments and support for child health at the global and country levels. The objectives of the country analysis are to: Distill and synthesize existing information about facilitators and barriers to progress in child health in selected countries; Describe how leadership was exercised and stakeholder groups acted to influence child health programs and outcomes; Document the effects of recent global initiatives for child health on programs and results in selected countries; and Identify what might be done differently to enhance progress on child health over the next 5 to 10 years in selected countries, given local and global contextual changes.   • Social Solutions International, Inc. (Social Solutions) seeks a locally based Logistics Assistant to help plan a one-week data collection field visit to Nigeria (state TBD) for the Child Health Country Perspectives study.
Responsibilities The Logistics Assistant will work with another local technical consultant and an international study team to­:
  • Plan and manage all logistics and administrative activities for one week in-country field visit for data collection.
  • Schedule interviews with representatives from national government, donors, NGOs, professional associations, research institutions, and others.
  • Manage field visit/data collection calendar and keep study team abreast of changes.
  • Identify and arrange meeting space to conduct interviews or hold study related meetings, and manage communication and negotiation with venue staff as required.
  • Identify and secure transport for study team for duration of stay in country.
  • Other logistics and administrative duties as assigned to support study team during field visit.
  • Participate in study team meetings with CIRCLE and USAID as required.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
  • Secondary school education required. Bachelor’s degree or some university preferred.
  • 3- 5 years’ experience providing administrative or logistics support for health or international development programs or research activities.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Experience supporting logistics for health or international development programs or research activities.
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with global study team.
  • Flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to change and manage multiple tasks successfully.
  • Familiarity with or interest in qualitative research a plus.
  • Knowledge of local area including hotels, meeting venues, transport companies etc.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Experienced at troubleshooting and solving logistics problems quickly and efficiently.
