Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the sustainable development of production systems in West Africa. We play a catalytic role by partnering with private sector companies and other stakeholders to foster the development of socially responsible, ecologically Sound and profitable supply chains. Our activities in West Africa are focused on cocoa, gold, oil palm, cotton, soy and other commodities. We are recruiting to fill  the position below:     Job Title: Consultant on Leather Productivity and Quality Enhancement Location: Kano Description SWA has proposed a 3-year Leather Productivity and Quality Enhancement Project (LPQP) in Kano State (Nigeria) with the following objectives:

  • A scoping mission is planned in the interim with the intent to gather baseline data in order to understand the context, dynamics, challenges, and opportunities across all levels of the value chain in this sector as a key activity prior to the full project implementation stage.
  • To meet the scoping objectives, SWA (Nigeria) invites Expression of Interests (EoI) from qualified candidates to serve in the interim as a Consultant to the project.
  • To build the capacity of smallholder sheep and goats farmer associations towards sustainable organizational and business management
  • To improve sheep and goats welfare, productivity and incomes through the development of viable semi commercial sheep and goat businesses towards improved leather quality
  • Facilitate market linkage for leather quality improvement and better pricing
  • Improve environmental management at 2 tanneries and to support them to achieve Leather Working Group certification
