The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of Research Supervisor at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.

Job Title: Research Supervisor (2 year renewable contract)
Location:
Ibadan, Oyo
Position / Responsibilities

Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Preparation of Maize Seed
  • Processing and storage of maize seeds
  • Planting of maize seed and data collection
  • Supervision of field activities
  • Maintenance of maize cold store
  • Pollination of maize on the field
  • Harvesting of maize trials
  • Distribution of labour and allocation of daily responsibilities
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification, Experience and Skills
  • BSc / HND in Plant Breeding , Agronomy or any related discipline
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant working experience on a similar role
  • Good skills in MS Office and general knowledge of computer
The ideal candidate must:
  • Be able to follow instructions and work independently where necessary.
  • Possess good organizational skills and demonstrate ability to work under pressure.

Job Title: Research Associate (2 year renewable contract)
Location:
Ibadan, Oyo
Position / Responsibilities

Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Production of breeder seed of selected early, extra-early and intermediate parental inbreds, hybrids, and open-pollinated varieties.
  • Provision of seed to NARS and Seed Companies of seven WASP countries.
  • Supervision of on-station trials
  • Conduct and management of maize field trials.
  • Direct supervision of staff and activities of the CORAF-WASP project
  • Collation and analyses of data from field experiments
  • Preparation of work plans and progress reports of the WASP Project
  • Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification, Experience and Skills
  • MSC in Plant Breeding , Agronomy any related discipline

 Job Title: Oracle Accounting Officer (2-year renewable contract)

Duties

Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Purchase Order Accounting Management:
    • Reconcile Commitments and or Obligations on Purchase Orders (P.O) / Requisitions;
    • Periodically advise delivery status on paid P.O that have not been receipted and follow up with Supply Chain as necessary;
    • Monitor Local Prepaid orders and follow up with the buyer;
    • Provide Audit figure for Inventory and non-inventory Good-In-Transit at year-end financial accounts compilation;
    • Raise appropriate journal as necessary to correct wrong P. O coding of actual charges or elimination of encumbrances wrongly created;
  • Inventory Management:
    • Run daily the Cost Manager;
    • Adjust for Invoice Price Variance (IPV);
    • Attend to issue of wrong item pricing and correct as appropriate;
    • Compute appropriate price when storekeepers are making item transfers;
    • Close Cost module at month end accounts closure processes;
    • Coordinate Annual Stock Count;
    • Provide Year End Inventory Value for annual audit purpose;
  • Process and upload financial spreadsheets into Oracle.
  • Review Purchase Orders related payment vouchers as initiated by treasury staff.
  • Assist in Fixed Assets Management.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor
Educational, Experience and Other Requirements
  • HND/BSc degree in Accounting, Finance or any other relevant field with 3 years of experience performing similar role.
  • Professional Membership of any of the following: ICAN, ACCA is highly essential.
The ideal candidate must have:
  • Good experience of ORACLE system or any related ERP package
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritise and take initiative

 Job Title: Senior Internal Auditor (2-year renewable contract)
Location:
Ibadan, Oyo
Duties

  • Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties
  • Act as head of the Unit in the absence of the incumbent
  • Assist the Unit head in the preparation of the Report to the Audit Committee
  • Assist in development of the Unit's annual risk based Audit work plan
  • Assist the Unit head in managing the units activities
  • Carry out review of audit working paper files
  • Assist in the monitoring of adherence to the Annual work plan
  • Monitor the unit's annual budget under direction of the Unit head
  • Develop and Review Audit work programs
  • Carry out review of Internal Control and processes
  • Carry out substantive test of transactions and examination of records
  • Carry out operational and financial audits
  • Propose recommendation for Improving operations and controls
  • Write and review audit reports
  • Provide advice and support to Unit heads and project Managers
  • carry of investigations as may be required
  • Liaise with external auditor
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor
Educational, Experience and Other Requirements
  • HND/BSc degree in Accounting, Finance or any other relevant field with 7 years of experience in Auditing of which 2 years is in a senior position
  • Professional Membership of any of the following: ICAN, ACCA, CIA, CISA is highly essential.
  • Possession of MBA is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate must have:
  • Good knowledge of International Auditing Standard
  • experience of ORACLE system or any ERP package
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritise and take initiative
 Job Title: Driver II (2-year renewable contract)
Location:
2 Positions in Abuja and 1 position in Ibadan
Duties

Candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Drive vehicles within and outside Nigeria to convey, IRS, other staff, collaborators and visitors.
  • Record trip details in the vehicle logbook.
  • Liaise with Insurance Officer to ensure that vehicle documents (local and international) are valid and up to date.
  • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance checks
  • Carry out vehicle cleaning and ensure adequate kitting (tools, medical box, and accessories)
  • Liaise with Workshop to ensure prompt servicing of vehicle as at when due.
  • Ensure courteous and prompt attention to passengers’ needs while being conveyed.
  • Ensure due completion of feedback form for each trip completed and return same to Transport Pool Services.
  • Ensure safety of vehicle and passengers property
Qualification, Experience and Skills
