Job Title: Information Technology Assistant

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Information Technology (IT) Assistant is a crucial support role within our organization's IT department. This position assists in the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems to ensure smooth and efficient IT operations. The IT Assistant provides technical assistance to end-users and supports various IT projects under the supervision of IT professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, peripherals, and network devices.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of IT equipment for new employees.

Security Compliance:

  • Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor systems for security breaches and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.

IT Project Support:

  • Collaborate with IT team members on various projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Assist in researching and evaluating new technologies and solutions to meet organizational needs.
  • Contribute to project planning, implementation, and documentation as required.

System Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure the integrity and reliability of IT systems.
  • Perform software updates, patches, and upgrades as necessary.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to optimize efficiency.

User Training and Documentation:

  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on basic software and hardware operation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, manuals, and user guides for IT systems and procedures.
  • Create instructional materials and conduct workshops to promote IT literacy among staff.

Qualifications and Skills

  • OND in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting IT issues.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating systems, office productivity software, and common business applications.
  • Strong understanding of computer networks, hardware components, and peripherals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
