ICRC Job in Jos for a Warehouse Manager/Logistics Assistant


The ICRC, established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.

The ICRC Jos Sub-Delegation is looking for a qualified candidate with the capacity to work independently to fill the position of:

Job Title: Warehouse Manager/Logistics Assistant
Location:
Jos
Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all warehouse staff (daily workers)
  • Prevent hazards to warehouse staff due to handling of cutting tools, slipping, falling of goods
  • Informing the Logistician in charge of all arriving consignments
  • Ensuring proper storage of all goods protecting them adequately from heat and ensuring that goods are not stored directly on the ground.
  • Maintain and update warehouse records and files
  • Ensure a complete stock taking at the end of every month
  • Ensure security of the warehouse by locking the medical warehouse whenever there is no activity
  • Control access to the warehouse of all personnel and to ensure that only authorised consignments leave the warehouse with appropriate documentation.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the warehouse as well as its in fractures
Requirements
  • 1-3 years in same field of activity
  • Good Verbal and basic written English knowledge
  • Secondary school is a minimum.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and sense of initiative
  • Driving license an asset
  • Capacity to integrate the ICRC logistic procedures.
  • Technical or commercial high school is an asset.
  • PC literate: Microsoft office
  • Rigor and method
  • Flexibility, availability, able to work independently and sense of initiative
