Pandagric Novum Limited was incorporated in 2006 under the name Novum Agric Industries. The business commenced operations in 2010, with the manufacture and distribution of commercial poultry feed, and in 2018, through a consortium of international and local investors, commenced its expansion and backward integration, which involves the expansion of its manufacturing activities, warehousing capacity and commercial farming activities.

Job Title: HSSE Manager

Location: Lagos

Job Description
Summarised below are the areas of responsibility (with inclusion of the objectives):
General:

  • Prepare budgets and capacity reviews for HSSE department.
  • Effective training and skills transfer to ensure development of a capable HSSE management team.
  • Engagement with regulators as required & managing compliance as per national legislation, permit requirements & investor mandates.

Health & Safety:

  • Design, review, adjust and implement appropriate Health and Safety System procedures based on risk assessments & mitigations
  • Bring company related health and safety matters to the attention of the CEO and Board of Directors at regular intervals through appropriate reporting procedures
  • Carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and record the findings on the relevant forms.
  • Conduct directly or through the department team members, safety audits both for internal departments and onsite contractors
  • Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees
  • Assess, recommend and implement control measures and the issuance of appropriate P.P.E. to employees based on department or risk exposure.

Security:

  • Oversee the development and management of the security department to meet the strategic and operational needs of the company
  • Review, adjust or develop appropriate security policies and procedures
  • Build and train the security teams for effective security delivery

Environment:

  • Devise strategies and initiatives relating to practical environmental best practices
  • Oversee and manage the company's environmental initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in disciplines related to HSSE.
  • A minimum of 6 years cognate experience.
  • Professional qualification(s) in occupational health and safety etc.
  • Demonstrated competence in health, safety and environment matters in organizations.
  • Experience in reporting and emergency response planning.
  • Advanced skill in minimizing accidents and near misses.
  • Experience in carrying out risk assessments.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures, and demonstrated competence in developing and manager a security establishment in remote and challenging geographical regions.
  • Outstanding organizational, leadership, teambuilding and training skills.
