We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Officer
Location: Oniru, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: General Manager/Project Manager

Job Summary

The HSE Officer will oversee all health, safety, and environmental activities within the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a culture of safety on project sites.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HSE principles, risk management, and regulatory requirements, with proven experience in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs in line with company and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) on project sites.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with HSE regulations, including obtaining and maintaining necessary certifications and permits.
Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
Provide training and awareness programs for staff and subcontractors on health, safety, and environmental practices.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports with corrective and preventive measures.

Requirements

HND/BSc in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are mandatory.
Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ISPON, IOSH) is an added advantage.

Abilities and Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and educate stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation.
Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Benefits
Salary is subject to negotiation based on experience and qualifications.
