Job Title: Head of Operations, Transport Division

Summary
- Responsible for direction and oversight of the general operations at all our terminals across Nigeria including, but not limited to operations, maintenance, safety/compliance, equipment, assets and personnel. You will run critical business processes, and execute cutting-edge strategies and continually refine the transportation operations of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan with the corporate leadership to determine strategic direction of the Transportation Division.
- Responsible for divisional economic performance
- Responsible for managing assets in such a way as to minimize operational expenses while maximizing equipment utilization
- Supervise key terminal staff to monitor operations at all Transport bus terminals, ensuring workload is completed per customer expectations: efficiently, safely and compliant with all applicable regulations
- Coordinate with company maintenance personnel and terminal managers to keep company buses maintained, safe, and operating per federal, state and local law while managing associated costs
- Oversight of Drivers, operations employees and their daily performance, to ensure safe, efficient, effective operation, including scheduling, expenditures, attendance and discipline
- Responsible for the justification, specification, selection and purchase of buses and other necessary equipment and systems
- Responsible for disposal of transportation equipment through sale or trade
- Monitor the general operations of staff of the transportation department to make sure that their operations are within the guidelines, safety measures, government orders, and administrative policies
- Develop important indicators that measure and show the effectiveness of the company’s transportation operations
- Develop and implement compliant, effective safety programs
- Work with corporate management, human resources department, and terminal supervision to determine staffing levels, job descriptions, and assist in the recruitment of drivers, operations and support staff
- Remain knowledgeable on current industry regulations, trends, and other relevant information
- Develop and implement divisional standard operating procedures
- Coordinate with terminal Managers/Coordinators at current and future locations to help maximize driver and equipment utilization across the fleet.
- Perform all duties in a professional manner which promotes the image, growth, profitability, and success of the company
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including the mechanical engineers, business intelligence, vendors, and government relations.
- Conduct necessary investigation(s) to determine the cause of problems like accidents (if any arises) and to set up safety measures to avoid recurrence of such issues
- Develop and implement plans that will lead to improvement in company profit
- Implement management recommendations, like proposed fees and change in movement schedu
Qualification, Experience & Skills
- Exceptional track record of delivering on complex, high visibility cross-functional tasks in a multicultural/hyper growth environment.
- Excellent organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items.
- Ability to stay focused under pressure, prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in transit management / transportation operations
- Experience supervising personnel in a passenger transportation environment
- Proven experience solving complex problems, exercising good judgment, and navigating ambiguous environments.
- Must possess good communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to effectively produce and distribute information across different terminals, within Nigeria.
- Strong ability to drive process improvement and lead change
- Track record of setting goals, creating action plans, and delivering results
- Experience tracking and monitoring KPIs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and motivate people at all levels across a broad variety of job function.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant industry rules and regulations.
