Job Title: Head of Ground Services

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced and people-oriented professional to join our team as the Head of Ground Services.
  • As the Head of Ground Services, you will create and maintain relationships with the key stakeholders in MalaikAir’s various market.
  • These could include industry specialists, research analysts, key editors and other third parties.
  • And also Ensure constant enhancements of applicable NCAA regulatory requirements are met.

Responsibilities
Operations Management:

  • Manage day to day ground handling operations to meet organizational performance plans and growth objectives within established budgets and timelines.
  • Implement and enhance a daily operating report process that measures effectiveness to plan for the operation.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards about ground operation to ensure high standards of customer service are delivered.
  • Monitor and report on operational issues, opportunities, development plans and achievement.
  • Build a strong operations work group. Be available to quickly discuss and resolve known or potential risks to smooth service delivery and aircraft preparation for each individual flight operation.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and guidance by coaching, counselling and mentoring the supervisors and front-line workforce. Be a central figure within Ground Operations and the Operations Department to ensure all responsibilities and tasks are delivered.

Team Management:

  • Ensure all Ground Operations team members keep impeccable records for each flight operation.
  • Produce & maintain duty and flight assignment rosters as necessary to ensure that the airline have on ground / on site representation for all live flights, where feasible or possible to arrange.
  • Oversee and enforce all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner by the Airport Supervisor team.

Supply and Procurement Management:

  • Follow up directly with each vendor to review any concerns on performance and to also validate the current processes that are meeting expectations and working well.
  • Review the preparations and planning with third parties such as handling agents, to ensure every element of service delivery is confirmed as correct and ready.
  • Actively contribute to vendor selection, contracting and related budgeting criteria.
  • Proactively contribute to OCC feasibility reviews on aircraft booking requests to confirm readiness of airport vendors to support each flight operation.

Trade Specific Competencies:

  • Knowledge and skills in check-in services
  • Ability to apply professional knowledge and skills in check-in services to solve issues and problems at work.
  • They must be able to confer and co-operate with senior management in formulating administrative/ operational policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Senior Manager / Team Lead capacity within the aviation industry and specifically with a VVIP operator and/or business aviation operator.
  • Possess extensive knowledge in industry best practice, and technical expertise.
  • Proven track record in aircraft ramp services delivery in support of aircraft operations.
  • Familiar with Emergency responsible procedures and plans
  • Regulatory and Compliance awareness.
  • Experience in managing an FBO or ground service activities in support of VVIP aircraft strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Airport Operations, or related field preferable.
