Mastercard Foundation is a global foundation based across four hubs in Kigali, Rwanda, Nairobi, Kenya, Accra, Ghana and Toronto, Canada. Our programs promote financial inclusion and advance education and learning in Africa, primarily for young people, and in Canada for Indigenous youth. The Foundation was established in 2006 through the generosity of Mastercard when it became a public company. From inception, the Foundation was designed to be a separate entity and independent from Mastercard. Our policies, operations, and funding decisions are made by our President and Board of Directors.
The Foundation believes that youth employment is key to unlocking prosperity, both for youth and their societies. Enabling young women and men from disadvantaged communities to secure dignified and fulfilling work will ensure inclusive development and economic growth in Africa.

The Opportunity
- The Head of Business Partnership will partner with the business to identify, rationalize, and prioritize MCF investments in systems, technologies, and digital capabilities to ensure their alignment with business strategy and objectives. Through collaboration, functional expertise and influence, the Head of Business Partnership will build roadmaps for each business area and manage the portfolio of initiatives leading to the roadmap targeted end state. They will ensure visibility to the business into the delivery of technology and digital solutions and diligently follows up on benefits realization from investments in technology.
Ways You can Contribute
- Ensure linkage of the technology investments and efforts to business strategy and objectives.
- Advocate technology and digital services and related innovations for the business.
- Support the business in defining their needs in term of process improvements, organizational capabilities, systems, and technologies.
- Support business initiatives with technology components (applications, infrastructure, services) through development of business cases, high level solutions, and cost and time estimates of the technology components.
- In collaboration with the business, monitor and report on user adoption and value realization (as laid out in business case).
- Supervise a group of business partners, functional analysts, business process specialists by providing direction, input, and feedback.
- Work with staff to improve performance by providing necessary learning and developmental experiences.
- Work with Internal Communication Team and with external partners to improve our organization Digital IQ.
- Evaluate business requirements and drive the technical feasibility analysis, prioritization, and approval of new initiatives in alignment with overall Enterprise Architecture guidelines.
- Prepare basic functional designs, high-level options, proof-of-concepts, and scope solutions.
- Support the launch of approved and prioritized projects with Technology PMO and Operations teams.
Who You Are
- 15+ years of business work experience, including significant leadership responsibilities with proven ability to influence senior level management and key stakeholders.
- Experience in one of the following functional areas and sectors: finance, people and culture, international development, philanthropy, non-for-profit sector, government, industries with large operations in emerging markets or developing countries.
- Are results driven and motivated by a sense of performance excellence and a sense of urgency; possesses a proactive and ‘self-starter’ mentality.

- Possesses a global mind-set and professional maturity and demonstrates sensitivity to working within different cultures.
- You have a commitment to Mastercard Foundation’s values and vision.
- Experience in areas such as agile transformation, change management, consulting, process re-engineering, organizational transformation, Six Sigma and Lean are appreciated.
- Demonstrated execution of effective management of a portfolio of technology and digital investments for a global enterprise.
- Experience in leveraging technology to enable business strategy and drive change.
- Experience in successfully leading major process and systems change initiatives.
- Strong customer focus and consistently seeks input and monitors quality, reliability, and timeliness of services.
- A drive for continuous improvement.
- French language and/or local language skills are an asset.
