Job Title:  Head, Information Technology


Job description
Drive the information technology infrastructure and ensure the use of technology to drive/enable the business by integrating technology to all areas of its processes for the delivery of superior client service in line with corporate objectives and goals to maximize the firms competitive advantage.
 Implement the current to long-term strategies of ARMLIFE IT unit to meet operational targets articulated in the firms objectives
 Define information technology needs of ARMLIFE and ensure proper implementation
 Supervise and coordinates activities relating to system implementation
 Determine the information technology needs of the firm and devise strategies to ensure they are met
 Ensure continuing education in Information Technology and its uses at all levels
 Manage the integration of office automation and data processing systems in the firm
 Advise on controlled acquisition of information technology tools to avert the risk of incompatibility; threats to security and integrity of corporate data resources; and inappropriate use of tools
 Ensure that the IT unit has adequate allocation of competent human and physical resources to enable it meet stated objectives
 Ensure that the various units have in place formal and documented systems and applications development procedures
 Harmonize, authorize/approve resource requests from the various units in the firm to ensure that disbursements comply with laid down controls
 Ensure that the IT systems are user oriented by monitoring performance indicators of the various units to ensure that features of operations service delivery meets client requirements while complying with requirements of relevant statutory and relevant authorities
 Ensure that all controls-preventive, detective and corrective - are established and observed
 Review and agree short-term action plans with each unit head
 Review operational reports from unit heads and take any action deemed necessary
 Monitor and appraise the implementation of strategies by the various units
 Ensure that operating objectives, goals, policies and procedures for the units support the Firm’s policies, objectives and strategy
 Review the classification of business information and association requirements of the Firm
 Coordinate the design and implementation of the firm’s information technology infrastructure. Specifically, establish an IT environmental reference base by providing a profile of the external/internal and domestic/international factors influencing the Firm’s business and IT conditions in terms of problems, stages of penetration, resource levels, strengths, weaknesses, and               pressures for change
 Monitor and ensure the security of Information Technology assets of the firm
 Convene meetings with unit heads to review activities of the unit
 Collaborate with other relevant units/groups to initiate, review, evaluate and recommend for approval new products that will         give the firm a competitive edge
 Any other duty assigned by the COO

Desired Skills and Experience
 Minimum of a Masters degree in Information and Technology related discipline; Possession of a relevant professional qualification.
 Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in similar capacity.
