Job Title: Head Chef

Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full Time

Qualifications
Education:

  • Culinary Degree or Diploma: A degree from a recognized culinary school is often preferred. Some chefs may also have a degree in hospitality management.
  • Food Safety Certification: Certification in food safety and sanitation, such as ServSafe, is often required.

Experience:

  • Proven Exaperience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef: Typically, 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in a professional kitchen, with at least a few years in a leadership role.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced Culinary Techniques: Mastery of cooking techniques, knife skills, and food presentation.
  • Menu Development: Experience in creating and designing menus that are both creative and cost-effective.
  • Food Cost Management: Ability to manage food costs, inventory, and suppliers effectively.

Certifications (Optional):

  • Advanced Certifications: Such as a sommelier certification if the position requires wine knowledge.

Requirements:
Leadership and Management:

  • Team Management: Strong leadership skills to manage kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants.
  • Training and Development: Ability to train and mentor staff, ensuring high standards of cooking and kitchen operations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Capable of handling conflicts within the team and managing staff dynamics.

Communication Skills:

  • Clear Communication: Excellent communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff, front-of-house team, and management.
  • Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers, especially in fine dining establishments, to gather feedback or present special dishes.

Attention to Detail:

  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Cultural Fit:

  • Passion for Cooking: A genuine passion for food and cooking, with a commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.

Creativity and Innovation:

  • Menu Innovation: Ability to create new dishes and adapt to food trends, while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Plating and Presentation: An eye for detail in food presentation to ensure that dishes are visually appealing.

Operational Excellence:

  • Inventory Management: Efficiently manage inventory, order supplies, and minimize waste.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Strong understanding of budgeting, controlling food costs, and maximizing profit margins.

Work Environment:

  • Stamina and Physical Endurance: Ability to work long hours, often in a high-pressure environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different kitchen environments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
