Initiative for Improved Humanity Foundation (IHF) responds to humanitarian crises, helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 2021, but duly registered with CAC 2023, IHF was borne out of the burden to improve lives of the downtrodden; especially women and children who are usually the most vulnerable in the society, and to impact on humanity in general. IHF offers lifesaving cares and also life changing assistance to the less-privileged in the society. With interventions in over 40 communities in Abuja and with plans on expanding her humanitarian works to other states in Nigeria and globally. IHF restores sense of dignity and spark ray of hope to millions who are despondent. IHF advances the way from harm to home.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 

Job Title: Gender Base Violence Officer (GBV Officer)

Location: Life Camp Abuja, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Major Responsibilities

  • In charge of maintaining, monitoring and measuring GBV projects implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors.
  • Assure equal participation of men and women in IHF policy-making, decision-making, planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring of municipal projects.
  • Coordinate GBV project planning and assessment
  • Work closely with other GBV case management officers and professionals on a particular GBV case or project.
  • Ensure the implementation of best-practices of international standards in GBV prevention and response.
  • Give support on child protection sectoral assessment, abuse, project planning and coordination.
  • Build capacity in implementing partners and funder’s principles on gender equality in all IHF projects and interventions.
  • Knowledge of GBV issues, skill and experience in participatory methods for community education and mobilization.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, training and research skills, diplomacy and assertiveness; the ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues with respect.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Gender Economics, or other relevant fields of study
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in GBV interventions
  • Demonstrated Managerial/Leadership Competencies
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to strike negotiations
  • Excellent Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle a large and dynamic workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
