The BBC Media Action (BBC MA) is the charitable arm of the World Service established by the BBC. BBC Media Action uses media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries.
To achieve this, the Media Action partners with civil society, local media and governments to:

  • Produce creative programmes based on robust research in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues.
  • Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.

The BBC Media Action is looking for interested/motivated candidates to join the Team as:

Position: Front Desk Officer
Salary range from N100,000.00 gross per month
Will be responsible for the management of the Front Office as well as support the work of the HR/Administration Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the front office remains properly cleaned at all times.
  • Manage and coordinate reception area and ensure smooth operation.
  • Receive and screen visitors to BBC Media Action office.
  • Receive and deliver messages and respond to queries of a non policy nature.
  • Respond to all ad-hoc requests for assistance.
  • Monitor supply of newspaper on a daily basis.
  • Respond to all ad-hoc requests for assistance.
  • Receive, answer and screen telephone calls before connecting calls to staff members.
  • Receive incoming mails and route to Administrative Assistant.
  • Monitor staff movement register operated by the security guards as well monitor and screen the movement of persons/visitors to the office.
  • Make calls for staff as requested, assist the office in sending fax messages and photocopying and filing of documents, set up conference calls.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Essential
  • Working experience supporting work groups in a similar environment or in front office management.
  • The ability to use office equipment such as phone systems, computers, and fax machines are essential skills for a receptionist as well.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Possess friendly and service – oriented personality.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, take initiative and make sound judgment.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Energetic and personable.

Qualification:
  • Educated at first degree level in Humanities, management of any related field.
