  Job Title: Finance Assistant Requisition: 2020200513 Location: Lagos Job Type: Full Time Supervisor: Finance & Grant Officer
Basic Functions   Under the direction of the Finance & Grant Officer, the Finance Assistant performs diversified accounts payable and reporting functions. Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the accurate keeping of all books of account for the project, including maintenance of the checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records.
  • Supports the Finance Officer in the review of all payment requests and determines the propriety and accuracy of all expenditures.
  • Assures completeness of supporting documentation and coding in accordance with FHI360 policies and procedures.
  • Prepares workshops schedule/payment to participants and retire same for review by the Financial Accountants.
  • Carries out all FHI360 banking transactions such as cash/check lodgments, collect bank statements and bank confirmation
  • Prepares bank reconciliations for review by the Lagos Office Finance Officer.
  • Manages the Petty Cash Imprest Account for the Lagos National Office.  Prepares and submits request for replenishment of imprest petty cash account and ensures proper coding and recording of all petty cash expenses.
  • Assists the Finance Officer in preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, including financial status of subprojects account activities with accompanying bank documentation and receipts.
  • Assists the Finance Officer in tracking travel advances to ensure that they are retired on a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the filing of payment vouchers, supporting documentations, workshop and travel retirements
Qualifications and Requirements
  • University degree or higher diploma in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting related to NGOs and community level programs, with increasing responsibility.

Job Title: Senior Accountant Requisition: 2020200502 Location: Abuja Job Type: Full Time Supervisor: Associate Director, Finance
Basic Functions
  • To act in collaborative capacity with the Associate Director Finance with the objective of providing professional accountancy services consistent with generally accepted accounting principles for FHI360 Nigeria Programs that are classified as “special projects”. S/He is expected to provide leadership in the accurate keeping of all books of account for the project(s), including checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records. S/he will prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including financial status of subprojects account activities with accompanying bank documentation and receipts.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide main support for special projects with problem resolution on CO cash accounts, bank resolutions, finance systems, resolution of audited questioned costs, and financial close outs at the state and zonal level.
  • Coordinate with AD to ensure the accurate keeping of all books of account for FHI360/Nigeria Country Office including checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records.
  • Monitor budgets and financial reports for all IA sub-agreements not directly managed by the field offices.

  • Participate in the preparation of contract package for sub-agreements and rapid response funds and small grants.

Qualifications and requirements

Basic Function
  • Under the direction of the D-PCT, the Senior Technical Officer- OVC / Care and Support will coordinate and provide technical assistance for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) including care and support activities as part of the program for FHI 360 Nigeria.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with D-PCT to provide technical assistance in the design, implementation, and evaluation of national -level OVC and care and support activities for FHI 360 Nigeria, which involves both community-based interventions, linked to facility based services
  • Development of interventions, including (1) measures focused on health care, Nutrition and food security, education and skills development; (2) environmental interventions focused on pshychosocial / spriritusl support and shelter; (3) Provides contextual interventions focused on household economic strengthening, legislative support and child protection; (4) Provide interventions focused on Care and support services, including Home Based-Care for PLWHA
  • Provides technical support to build the capacity of implementing agencies and state counterparts to 1) carry out care and support programs specifically related to orphans and vulnerable children and adults and 2) create effective linkages with clinical care services
  • Works with NGOs and relevant FHI 360 staff to facilitate the transfer of appropriate skills to people living with HIV / AIDS (PLWH / A) and their families for prevention, support and care.
  • Assists in the application of program evaluation results to modify existing programs and design new programs.

  • Or BSc Nursing with 7-9 years post national youth service corps experience at the community level or in the private health sector or similar degree and equivalent experience in public health, social sciences or other relevant areas.
  • An MPH is required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in Care and Support at the community level with evidence of increasing official /professional responsibilities. Experience working with orphans and vulnerable will be an added advantage.

Job Title: Systems Enhancement Accountant Requisition: 2020200500 Location: Abuja Job type: Full time Reports to: Associate Director, Finance
Basic Functions
  • This position will report to the Associate Director, Finance and will be responsible for continuous improvement of financial systems and compliance levels at the State offices in the country.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities Compliance:
  • Working with the Office of Compliance and Risk Management, identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; prioritizes areas to be addressed, then, working with staff on the ground, develops / implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • The implementation phase must include direct training and demonstration of how to implement corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance issues / concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated and resolved.
  • Report on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Director, Finance and Senior Management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the Feedback Finance hotline; (b) heightened awareness of SOPs and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
Capacity Building:
  • Work with the State Finance and Administrative staff to ensure that s / he fully understands and complies with the provisions of the FHI360 financial policies and procedures manual.
  • Provide continued orientation to the State Finance and Administrative staff on how to support facilities to compile and submit monthly fund requests and prepare consolidated fund requests for the whole state (covering all Health facilities and Sub awards).
  • Develop, maintain and work with the State Finance and Administrative staff to ensure that they fully understand and comply with the FHI 360 procurement process including, but limited to, purchase requests, prequalifying vendors,  soliciting quotes, collating quotation / bids from prequalified / potential vendors, the vendor selection process through receipt and payment for goods and / or services.
  • Train State Finance and Administrative staff on the procedure involved in tracking expenditures incurred from States sub agreements by FHI360 on behalf of the government and maintain copies of all documentation.  After training, follow up to ensure that procedures are followed.  Provide additional hands on training and guidance as necessary.
  • Train State Implementing Team (SIT) Accountants on the procedures involved in the collection and processing of travel advances (TAs), prepare sub-recipients financial reports (SFRs), reimbursement requests and continuous quality improvement / technical assistance (CQI / TA) reports from SIT members to the FHI360 state offices.  After training, follow up to ensure that procedures are followed.  Provide additional hands on training and guidance as necessary.
  • Train State Finance and Administrative staff on how to track burn rate / maintain financial monitoring pipelines for each health facility, to monitor budget performance against plans for each health facility managed under the sub agreement and provide feedback to the SIT and other stakeholders in the States.  After training, follow up to ensure that procedures are followed.  Provide additional hands on training and guidance as necessary.
  • Provide hands on training to the State Finance and Administrative staff on how to maintain inventory of all project assets managed through the sub agreement, including ensuring proper filling and storage of financial documents at SIT level.  After training, follow up to ensure that procedures are followed.  Provide additional hands on training and guidance as necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 5– 7 years relevant experience, or
  • MSc. in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 3 – 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in accounting and accounting principles sufficient to prepare complex and detailed financial and budgetary analyses.
  • Experience in financial reporting, and financial management systems applications.
  • Experience with Global Fund and USAID-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria.
  • CPA, ACA or recognized equivalent is required.
