RTI International is funded by USAID to implement the Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) | East project in Nigeria. The project supports the federal and state governments on the elimination of NTDs including lymphatic filariasis, Onchocerciasis, Schistosomiasis, Soil-transmitted Helminths and Trachoma. The project works through the NTD units at national, state and LGA levels to implement various NTD activities including Mass Drug Administration and Specific Disease Assessments in NTD endemic communities.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Electronic Data Capturing (EDC) Officer
Locations: Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Katsina

Job Description

  • The EDC officer will be responsible for collecting and overseeing all aspects of electronic data collection (EDC) for the proposed Lymphatic filariasis (LF) Transmission Assessment Survey (TAS) in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Katsina States. This role includes data collection using Open Data Kits (ODK), troubleshooting data collected and ensuring accuracy and integrity of survey data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the assessment team.
  • Conduct field visits to schools, to collect data.
  • Data Management and Analysis
  • Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare detailed reports on survey findings, including quantitative and qualitative reports.
  • Document best practices, challenges encountered, and lessons learned during the survey process.
  • Participate in field review meetings and present data issues for program improvement during survey
  • Ensure data collection processes adhere to ethical standards and protocols.

Reporting Line:

  • EDC officers will report directly to Act | East’s MERLA manager and will collaborate closely with other project team members and stakeholders.

Duration:

  • The term of assignment for EDC Officers will be Two weeks (14 school days excluding weekend), with a possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, information technology, social science, education, or related field.
  • Good problem problem-solving skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to work in remote and potentially challenging field environment.
  • Familiarity with the local context and languages is an advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electronic data collection for health survey or similar projects.
  • Proficiency in the use ODK for data collection.
  • Strong understanding of survey methods and tools.
