International IDEA aims to support sustainable democracy worldwide, doing so, inter alia, by working with both new and long-established democracies to strengthen the institutions and culture of democracy.

Located at the interface of research and practice, International IDEA serves as a forum for dialogue and uses comparative experience and analysis to identify good practices for democracy-building. It also produces knowledge tools and practical guides for democracy support.

Job Title: Driver and Logistics Assistant, Nigeria

Location: Plateau

Description

  • International IDEA anticipates managing the second phase of the “Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Phase II Programme” in Nigeria. The programme is funded by the EU for a period of five years. The programme will work towards three anticipated Outcomes:
    • Outcome 1: Enhanced performance, quality, and oversight of the criminal justice system and of justice service delivery.
    • Outcome 2: Improved access to justice for vulnerable women, children, juveniles, persons with disabilities and victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
    • Outcome 3: Increased transparency and accountability of anti-corruption systems and reforms.
  • The Driver provides transport and logistical support to the Office in Plateau State. They are responsible for providing safe, secure, and efficient transportation of personnel and resources and taking proper care of vehicles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carries out driving missions as assigned by the State Project Coordinator;
  • Provides transport assistance to staff and/or consultants involved in project delivery activities;
  • Provides clear and timely communication regarding transport arrangements and any changes to transport users;
  • Undertakes routine mail dispatch service as may be required;
  • Assists with the distribution of incoming mail and newspapers throughout the office;
  • Assembles newspaper and magazine clips as necessary and practical;
  • Assists in meeting preparation, including the physical setting-up of meeting rooms;
  • Assists with taking photographs at events;
  • Assists with the different inventories required by the office;
  • Raises advances relating to journeys and departures according to agreed time standards;
  • Undertakes logistical support to designated workshops, meetings, and events;
  • Ensures vehicles are serviced in line with the service schedule, that periodic routine vehicle checks are made, and that defects and damage are reported promptly;
  • Undertakes daily internal and external maintenance checks on all programme vehicles to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy before the start of any journey and that vehicles are clean and refueled regularly;
  • Maintains vehicle logbooks, journey, and fuel records;
  • Carries out other duties and responsibilities as related to the post that may be assigned from time to time.

Reporting line:

  •  State Project Coordinator RoLAC II (NG-PL)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma;
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience within a similar role, in the provision of driver services with a safe driving record is required;
  • Military or security background is an advantage;
  • Basic knowledge of Information Technology (IT) is desirable;
  • Experience of working in an international context, e.g., in an intergovernmental organization, NGO or diplomatic service considered an added advantage.
  • A full clean and valid driving license is essential, category B, (Car, Jeep, Delivery Van) is preferred;
  • Knowledge of road networks in the North Central region of the country;

Terms of Contract:

  • Local Post.
  • Fixed term appointment until 31 December 2027.

Remuneration
USD 437 (Base) Salary / Month.
